Windmill Harbor is well protected marina, It is accessed through a lock so their are not any tidal currents to worry about, It's like a pond. The SCYC club house is beautiful. Not sure what the dues are. They do a lot of sail boat racing in the Calibogue Sound. Good luck!

On the other hand, Windmill Harbor is a very long way from the beach and any public access golf courses.

People that can afford Windmill Harbor do not worry about the beach or a public golf course. It is all about the money. Hilton Head at the present time has excess property on the market as increased homeowner fees, insurance rates and Beaufort County taxes. The increase of traffic on the main roads is a major pain in the arse, as one road has more lanes built they have to plan to build another. When IP finishes there Victoria Bluff, Bluffton will be one of the largest citys in the state, hows that for more people with more cars.

Makinit
Hey do you know if Larry Kelly still lives there?
He was a friend of mine when I lived there back in 1990.

IP is International Paper they have large holding in forest lands. Bluffton is on the way to Hilton Head before you go over the bridge. It was a small fishing and vacation homes area, in the last few years it has exploded as HHI was built out. It is the new place to live in Beaufort county as many people have moved out of the various Plantations. Victoria Bluff is a high end eco friendly development that is being done similarly as Sea Pines was done in the original devlopment. Fall, winter & spring are the best time of the year, summer is hot and humid with pleanty of flesh eating bugs. Summer is also family vacations with many wild drivers.

Larry was retired. He had a 28 Bertram and then bought a 36 Luhr's. He owns a company called Magna Port out of Detriot.

It's actually called Palmetto Bluff, and if you think the traffic is bad, go spend a weekend in Atlanta. I've
traveled alot of places, been here 28 years and i still wouldn't trade it for anywhere else.

Lived in Hilton Head for over 10 years, and keep my boat at Windmill, and I am currently preparing to move there. In my opionion it's the best marina on HHI... the marina is protected by a lock (no build-up or barnacles), safe & secure, right on the ICW, great people, small and no long "no wake" zone to get offshore. Golf... there are like 30+ golf courses within 20 minutes of Windmill Harbor. Many are open to the public.
