RE: Holden Beach The Spanish should be hitting just off the beach. I like small Clark spoons or Drone spoons on a long leader behind a small planer. I usually go out the inlet to the sea buoy and troll towards the Big Hill on Oak Island or towards the pier on Holden's Beach. Those are good places to start the search for the schools. The inlet, waterway, and Lockwood's Folly River are good for flounder and drum. The nearshore artificail reefs are favorites for flounders, Spanish, and kings. There are also quite a few patches of live bottom within several miles of the beach that hold some bottomfish. There should be plenty of bait around you can catch with a cast net. |
