Default ICW Trip - Wilmington up to Beaufort...

Taking a trawler up the ICW from Wilmington to Beaufort. First time. Looking for information on where to stop for gas, good food, transient slips, etc., along the way.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated!

Cheapest gas on the whole trip is New River Marina Snead's Ferry.....(N end of Topsail).....Swansboro has a couple nice restaurants on the water. Park at Caspers, it has good access and water for a big boat and walk down the waterfront.

I'd plan a night's stay at Casper's. Nice folks, and they offer transient dockage. Call ahead is, of course, a good idea. Just a block away from downtown Swansboro, with some neat little shops if you like that stuff. And choice of restaurants, as Greg said. Can't recall the name, but the one right up from Casper's on the water was very good last time I was there (green top building I think.) And of course, plenty of good food choices and transient docking at the Beaufort waterfront once you get there.

I was thinking of a trip the other way this summer... Morehead down to Wilmington. Just for a weekend. Any suggestions on dockage for one night in Wilmington that would be walking distance to a hotel/shops/good restaurant?

Downtown is much like Beaufort with the river walk. The Hilton is also very nice.
Wrightsville Beach is also very nice with lots of restaurants and places to sit and watch the boats. Wrightsville marina or the Bridge Tender Marina are good places to dock

Sounds like a good time. It would add a while to the trip to go all the way up the river, instead of stopping at WB...
