Default Sea Tow or Tow Boat US out of Oregon Inlet, Hatteras and/or Rudee?

Just looking for which one won't leave me stranded or charge me out of the rear because I'm too far out. I've heard good and bad about both, just looking for good and bad about these specific ports o call.

As long as its the same operator that used to run out of the Salty Dog Marina in Manteo - Towboat US gave great service for me a few years back.

I reccomend Sea Tow, even if you have to get TBUS to tow you. Sea Tow went up to $5000 coverage/ incident and their range is twice as far.

See now y'all are killin me...I was leanin Sea Tow, then got 2-0 response toward TBUS...now I'm back to my thoughts on Sea Tow's operation in general (more range really the main deal pushing me in that direction) plus Head Hunt's vote that way and two resounding TBUS votes...

Tie breaker out there?

This may be ought of line, but it's true.

I would go TBUS, the service is better.

I have some serious issues with SeaTow's operation out of Wanchese that I do not want to post publicly, PM me for more info Redneck7.

As far as TBUS, the guy who runs the Salty Dawg II for towing is professional, courteous, fair and overall a great Captain.

He's towed me twice on my old motor, extremely capable captain.

I agree with Blue. The Boat US Captain out of Wanchese is very knowledgeable and professsional. A former marina owner and has been around a long time. The Sea Tow operation changed owners recently and I do not know much about them.
I have no info on Hatteras or Rudee..

Regards and have Fun!

Thanks y'all...probably going TBUS. On a brand new engine so hopefully I won't need it, but new engines aren't exempt from owner's stupidity, so I could probably still find a way to end up needing a tow.

I have SeaTow in Morehead City. Planning to drive up to Hatteras, so I called SeaTow about coverage. VERY nice customer service. SeaTow does not cover Hatteras, if I have to be towed by another service, I pay them directly and SeaTow will reimburse me up to $5,000. Peace of mind...

For the life of me I can't remeber his name,

the older guy, I wanna say Norm, or Ned, used to run Salty Dawg, jeez

He is one heckuva tow driver tho. 10 knot NE wind towing me towards the OI ramp, whipped his boat around at the last minute and mine drifted right to the dock bow first as if I was under power, AND HIT THE SLIP DEAD ON. By the time I had mine tied in, he was tyed up and filling out the paperwork standing on the dock!

Impressive boat skills, he's done it a time or two before!

Right, His name is Harry Schiffman. He built and owned Salty Dawg Marina in Manteo. He has had Boat US tow for many years. Does a lot of sailboat groundings, etc up Alligator River way and ICW as well as Oregon Inlet. He sold the Marina last year and a condo development called Marshes Light is under construction. He now lives in Wanchese and runs the Tow service out of Broad Creek.
Capt Joe Wilson did own the Sea Tow deal out of Wanchese and I think he was pretty good, but he sold and I do not know the new owners although I see their boats around..I currently have Sea Tow and since I have Boat US insurance, I also have some coverage there, However I may switch since Harry is now in Wanchese.

Regards,
