The wife and I are looking into relocating in the Hampstead area next year, and I was just looking for some general info about the area. Prolly will make some overnite stays this year. What is good and bad about the boating, fishing, and slips in town. Thanks, Jimmy
I think 1/2 of NJ is in Hampstead. Send me a PM if you have specific questions. My next door neighbor is retired from NJ and would be more than happy to give you all the scoop. Harbour Village Marina is the place to keep boats, available for sale and rent, owned now by the slip owners. Great group and we have social events. Very good inshore fishery and the inlet has been holding up well to go into the ocean with a very short run. Prices have stabilized, or come down a little. Let me know if I can help.
Check out Holly Ridge as well. I know of several new developments with water access that will be much more
economical in this area. Try a website called Kingsharborresort. The neighborhood has intracoastal views and
water access to Kings Creek. Another great developement is Saltwater Landing, contact Sanddollar Real Estate
in Surf City for more info.
Well where to start........ I live in Wilmington, and lots of good and bad to boating here. Are you going to be in water or trailer? Launching on a weekend is major headache, marina access in the Hampstead area is pretty limited as well. Waterway is NUTS busy on weekends around Wrightsville Beach - Masonboro area, best to stay either north or south of there. Weekdays are the way to go if retired, no one out there especially in cooler months. Topsail area is nice but water ways are narrow and tricky, no big open bays here until you go 30-40 miles north. Going south is into the Cape Fear river and the "ditch" south to Myrtle Beach, Georgetown, Charleston, etc...... Fishing good, new law this year requires salt water license. Inlet fising good, near shore good seasonaly otherwise to the stream. Send PM if interested in specifics. Hampstead area is growing mucho fast!!
