Default Bulkhead/dock pricing in NE NC

Trying to budget for a 150 foot bulkhead and a 75' "T" pier in ELizabeth City. Anyone had a recent job done and willing to share prices, contractors etc. Thanks!

I had a friend in Morehead that got a turn key price of $135 per linear foot using 12 foot tall material. I'm not sure what length material you need, usually you put the same length in the ground that you have sticking out. Back filling is extra. He didn't need a dock so I can't help you there.

I had a quote from Buddy Leary for 250' of vinyl bulkhead. Quote was in July for $28,000. $112.00 per linear foot. Got the CAMA permits and the Cama person said that Buddy was one of the best in this area. Matter of fact, he's working in the subdivision where your lot is right now. He requires 1/2 down payment up front, which made me a little nervous. I had him write into the contract that if he was not finished by November I would get my deposit back. I checked 3 or 4 of his jobs out and spoke with a few of his clients. The work looked real good and his clients were very happy. He is about 6-8 weeks backed up right now.

Answered your PM. The CAMA process:
Make a sketch of what you intend to do. Go to the CAMA office on Hwy 17 and pick up the paperwork for a bulkhead and pier. You have to get property owners on each side to sign off on your design. Then, you go back (maybe a phone call) to CAMA to schedule a site visit. During the site visit, they will either reject or issue the permit. I had them hold on to my permit until Buddy begins due to the fact that the permit is good for only 90 days. They will put the date the actual work starts.

BTW- The permit costs have gone up substantially. When I first spoke with CAMA, the permit was $200 for the bulkhead and $100 for the pier (I think that is right). Now it is $400 for the bulkhead and $200 for the pier. They want a check at the time of the site visit.
