I live in the northern suburbs of Atlanta...I have a secure covered storage space at Lake Lanier next to THT'er "JiminGA's" GW 228 but lately have been keeping it at the house as its more convenient to work on, etc...
The storage space is covered....my driveway has a canopy of trees. The trees tend to drop leaves and twigs which require some extra maintenance. As I have thoroughly cleaned the boat in anticipation of a potential sale, its at the storage space. The next time it comes back to the house for any length of time, its going to be tarped. If I don't sell it, I'll buy a cover for it in the Fall.
Bob, thanks for the compliments...of course...you forgot the most important aspect of me bringing a new boat to your dock - trying to see if it will fit in your boathouse.
At 4000 rpm you are running about 30 by the GPS and getting about 3.2 mpg or so. With 148 gallons, its got a decent cruising range.
The curve is fairly linear...4200/32; 4400/34; 4600/37 and the mpg stays between 2.5 and 2.8 at these ranges.
WOT is 40-41 at about 5200 rpm. Interestingly, I can trim it WAY out and get close to 5400 rpm, but the top end falls off a little bit as the prop loses some bite.
The 200 HPDI is a great motor. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
Brian, given your progression you have surpassed my boathouse and the COE will not allow expansion. But come over any way. There is always room on the outside...
I can't believe there's not more action on this GW!!! Brian is meticulous with this boat's maintenance and upkeep. I wish I had the electronics and stereo set-up in our boat that's in this one!! Somebody's gonna get a sweet deal on a very-well kept Grady!!! I just hate to lose this rig as my neighbor at our storage place.... it's a pretty neat sight to see... our two rigs sid-by-side
