1992 Mako 221, 2nd time ever in water May, 2002. 1993, 200Hp Ocean Pro Johnson first time in water May, 2002.
This boat was previously owned by someone that never took it out after they test drove and bought the boat in Sept, 92. They then, took a trip out of the country and returned to pick up the boat from the dealer in January 1993. The newer model of the Ocean Pro 200 hp Johnson was out then and they had the dealer replace the original motor with the newer one. Due to health reasons the boat was never used. This motor had never been wet when I bought the boat from the son of the deceased owner in May of 2002. The trailer tires still had the little rubber nipples sticking out from the tires and not a scratch on the boat bottom, awesome! The boat is 22ft and 10 in.
My son just bought a 41ft Hatteras and I already have a 21ft Seacat for near shore fishing so the Mako will not be used much anymore. It has everything needed for offshore bluewater fishing. Outriggers, downriggers, 150 Standard Horizons GPS, connected to the Standard Horizon Vhf, Lorance sounder/loran(original equipment), Furuno 600 color sounder, Pioneer Cd/am/fm/remote/expensive speakers. Motor has 300 hours, on hour counter. Holds 150 gallons. I can go to the Big Rock out of Morehead City, NC (45miles) troll all day and stop by Cape Lookout and fish the shoals and jetty and return on 70 gallons easy.
Every thing works great and no spider cracks in gell coat. I put the t-top on with full curtains that come all the way to the back of the top. They are in seven pieces that zipper to accommodate any weather conditions. Access to the crow’s nest is thru the zippered opening in front of the console. The crows nest comes off with 4 hexhead screws. It’s really light and easy to handle. Attached, it’s 14 ft from top to road and should be able to be towed without removing, but I never wanted to try. I usually don’t fish with it on. Cobia and drum in late spring out of Hatteras and Ocracoke was what it was put on for and it was worth it.
The trailer has new Goodyear C load tires plus spare and the surge brakes are new. I tow with a 1500 Surburban and don’t really need the trailer brakes. I load and unload the Mako with no help all the time. Great drive on trailer.
The boat looks like a four year old boat, not a 14 year old. The motor runs like a new one. I don’t think you will find a setup this clean and well maintained, for this price, anywhere. Asking $18K. Check Mako website for specifics and model details.

more pics....There is life jacket storage overhead above the captains seats. I still have the original windshield but took it off to clean up the view through the sea-glass curtains I run in the colder months. I never converted to a leaning post because I like to be able to turn the seats around for trolling or drum or cobia fishing from the rear.
It has built in Bennett trim tabs and consol indicators with auto gyro leveling.

What kind of performance and consumption does it get? Do you have the cushions for the forward seating or the dodger that I see on a lot of other 221's? Also wondering if you've had the fuel tank area inspected as I've heard of water intrusion and corrossion of the aluminum fuel tanks.

The boat was stored inside for ten years. basically a four year old boat. Don't know how to tell you any more about gas consumption than what I described above. I've never had to worry about running out of gas running from sun-up to sun-down. No cushions or dodger, sorry. Stan

The GPS is not color. I'm going from memory, I think the card is for Chesapeake to Savannah. The card cost $300+ when I bought it. The downriggers are manual. I've also recieved a deposit on it today, so for now it's not really available. Stan

Sorry guys, I'm holding the mako until the gentleman that sent the deposit is able to get here from Florida (the weekend after the 4th). The boat never saw the light of day for 10 years so it looks like a new one. I'll hold off on more pics for now.......but she hasn't left the yard yet, so anything is possible.
