Default Scarab 302 PROJECT FOR SALE

Listing an early 80s Scarab 302 hull project for sale.
will entertain all reasonable offers. located in metro Atlanta.
No trailer, must pickup or arrange other transportation. i have some local connections if necessary

includes custom all aluminum console,
Stainless cleats and misc hardware
Lees outrigger mounts (mounted on gunnel)
Morse docking lights
heavy stainless transom bracket. pretty sure this was made to band-aid bad transom, not shown in pics.

cap need to be separated from hull, soft floor, im sure some stringer damage, bad transom..

this is just one project that never made it to the top of the list.

there are plenty of threads on here about these scarab rebuilds if you need more information about what is involved in this project.

$750

Thanks

Do you have a title for the hull?

unfortunately i do not, i called the DNR before i purchased it and they came out to run the numbers to make sure i wasnt buying a "hot" hull. i got the OK from them and they briefed me on the process of being issued one. seemed easy enough. as part of their advise i was told not to worry about it until the boat was nearing completion.. hahaha jokes on me i guess

not sure how the laws are in your state but if its more difficult in your area i would be willing to do the paperwork then transfer the title to you if you are serious

Seems a little backwards to me on the title issue. I would not put time and money into a boat until I had the title resolved.

X2 on the title. Here in Fl. The only way I see to get a title for that boat is to claim it is homemade.

i see your point. regardless of title a boat is a boat.. this is a blank canvas and the piece of paper doesnt make or break the seaworthiness or value once its been restored. in ga a boat doesnt need a title. all you need is a bill of sale with a HIN to transfer ownership. the only issue you could have is when you go to register with DNR is if the HIN number comes up stolen and i can assure you thats not the case here. two officers verified that for me at point of purchase.

In florida you cannot transfer or even sell without a title

That's not true. It depends on the selling states paperwork requirements. Many states don't have a title requirement.

You are correct about "many states" but it is true what I wrote about Florida... I know because I bought a boat without a title at the police station with the seller. The Police confirmed it was not stolen, so I bought the boat with a bill of sale thinking I would register it as "homemade" then get a title... After 1.5 years of arguing with the DMV and cutting up floor, pictures, materials used I obviously could not completely list... and 20k I just had it junked.

seems like Ga is much more lenient on the paperwork. whatever the buyer needs ill be happy to help with. the man i purchased the boat from still runs a business close to me and should be available as well if we need more paper trail.

i can definitely believe Fl being a little more involved in the paperwork, im sure they have had plenty of issues with stolen boats over the years..

Hi CKing,

Did you register this boat in your name with the state of Georgia, after you purchased it?

Thanks,

Thanks. I live in Florida, and I bought a boat from Georgia last year
And that is exactly what the seller had to do. It was a simple and fast process, as long as you have the previous owner's Georgia boat registration and the original bill of sale when you bought the boat.

Btw, I am very interested in the boat.

Thanks,
