I have a friend looking at a late eighties 26 Fortier, boat is equipped with a 200 Hp Volvo,

owner telling him it cruises at 17 knots, seem high to me but looking for feedback from people with Fortier experience.

Also the we do not know if it is a Volvo 40 or 41 but I heard the 40 had some problems, any feedback would be appreciated

That's about right. Great boat, wet but with a good enclosure, just fine...

I had a Fortier 26 for 6 years. 18 k cruise is reasonable. By the way, it is a great boat - has a "cult" following. Mine was noisey though and they do not do well in a following sea.
