Well, given the interest I've gotten and at least one, possibly 2 more boats on the way, I think I can part with the Bertram shown in the photos section of this fine web site-look under Bertram 20 project parts 1,2,3. If you want more info, please, serious inquiries only to
giantbluefin1@comcast.net. Here are the particulars for the uninitiated...
1967 Bertram Moppie to Center console custom conversion, completed in September 2004
Keel-up restoration/customization including, but not limited to, replacement of backbone (glassed-in mahogany), stringers (encapsulated glassed-in marine ply, 1.5" thick), transom, stem member and monocoque deck (nidacore, 2 layers under, 3 layers over in 1708 biaxial cloth).
Molded forward and aft bulkeads with isolation bulkheads under aft deck, keeping water from the bilge. SeaStop scuppers installed for excellent drainage overboard.
Finish is Pro-Line linear polyurethane paint in an off-white color. Non-skid deck is of the same product with Interlux non-skid added for a durable, attractive non-skid surface.
Power is a 2004 Volvo D3 Common Rail turbo diesel with a Volvo SX outdrive. Total hours on the boat since new is 140. Cruise is 28 kts at 2900-3000 rpm with a top over 40 kts at 4400 rpm. Approximate cruise fuel burn is 5.5 gph. Steering is all new Hynautic hydraulic. Access to all engine and steering systems is through 3 hatches aft-one on each side of the engine box in the aft bulkhead and one directly above the engine on the aft deck. Additional access to engine is via a large, custom-built engine box cover.
Fuel capacity is 75 gallons in a new powder-coated aluminum tank.
The boat is equipped with a t-top, electronics box, radar mast and leaning post, all custom and powder-coated polyester white. There is also a custom-made (August 2005) 3-sided enclosure, made from Stamoid and Strata-glass, surrounding the t-top for comfort and weather protection.
Electrical system is all new, built to marine standard and includes 2 deep cycle batteries (under the console and DRY), battery switch, new all-tinned marine wiring to all systems and heavy cable to engine systems. There is a water-proof Blue Sea Systems rocker switch fuse panel that controls power to various systems.
The boat is equipped with Volvo's QL Trim System, a very user-friendly boat trim system that gives immediate feedback as to boat position and trim status.
The console is large with ample storage and a hinged seat forward (with cushion), allowing more storage beneath.
There is ample space forward of the console (I kept a 400 lb commercial-style fish box there with plenty of room to spare). Additional storage is found under the fordeck, which extends roughly 4 feet from the tip of the bow and is accessed by a large hatch in the forward bulkhead.
There are 5 rod holders in the t-top, 4 on the leaning post and 4 swivel rod holders in the gunwhales with room for more. There are 2 stainless chocks on the foredeck and one stainless cleat, as well as 4 stainless "pop-up" cleats on the boat-2 on each side. The pop-up cleats pop down to get them out of the way when fishing.
The electronics package, housed in the overhead electronics box, consists of a JRC 1800C color combination radar/chartplotter/dgps, a Furuno 600L color sounder with an Airmar "Tilted element", flush mount thru-hull transducer, Standard Eclipse vhf with scrambler and expansion channels and a Pioneer am/fm/cd player with weatherproof Plano speakers on the t-top.
The boat is on a Yacht Club single axle trailer that should be replaced with a double axle if you intend to do alot of trailering. Boat is in winter storage, shrinkwrapped in southern NH.
The boat was surveyed and insured as a new boat, with a replacement value in excess of $75,000. I will entertain reasonable offers, starting price $48,500. Try to find a production boat with these features and pedigree at that price. Hope to hear from you soon...
