Default ****SOLD! SOLD! SOLD ****1982 Bertram 28’ Flybridge - 100% Freshwater - SOLD! SOLD! SOLD!

I am listing this for a friend who is Internet-challenged, but I am very familiar with this boat and have fished it with him. The boat is located in N. Muskegon, Michigan on Lake Michigan. Feel free to direct questions to me or to his email/phone number at the bottom of the ad.

Anyone who knows boats knows that Bertram’s are one of the best-built and most seaworthy of all. And this highly-desirable 28’ model has had 100% FRESHWATER use since new. Although it is a 1982 hull, it was first commissioned in 1984. He is only the second owner since new.

The engines are 260hp MerCruisers, based on Chevy 305 Vortec blocks. Both port and starboard motors were brand new in 2004 with approximately 400 hrs. of use since installation.

The transmissions are the popular VelvetDrives and were recently rebuilt, with 400 hrs. on them since the rebuild.

The boat sleeps 4…2 in the V-Berth and 2 in the convertible dinette. There is a complete lower helm along with the galley, head and tons of built-in storage.

Features include:
Norcold fridge
Fresh water wash down
Battery switches
Minn-Kota 2-battery charger (new in 2004)
New rudder (new in 2005)
New captain’s chairs (new in 2005)
New Dinette Upholstery (new in 2004)
VacuFlush head with extra holding tank

This boat is very well equipped with recent electronics:
FURUNO 1742C Navnet Color (new in 2004)
Furuno GPS, Chartmap, Black Box Fishfinder, Radar(36nm) with open array antenna
Thru-hull Furuno transducer (new in 2005) and shoot-thru transducers (new in 2003)
Sandpiper speed gauge
Lowrance depth gauge
Uniden VHF (new in 2003)
Lowrance X15 paper graph
Auto Trim tabs

The downriggers, rodholders, and fishing electronics currently installed on the boat are NOT included, but are available separately. I have a new survey and the Dyno report from the motors, all done in Spring of 2005. Don’t wait…this fine 100% freshwater Bertram won’t last long. HUGE PRICE REDUCTION!! $37,000 or best offer. Thanks, guys! Yes, this is a sweet ride...no doubt about it.

And remember, boats in the Great Lakes don't get the same wear and tear that boats get in the ocean. There is no corrosion issue like in saltwater...and our season is only 6 months long. So boats are used from April - October and then stored indoors in the winter.

This boat is in GREAT shape for it's age...and with new motors it has a long life ahead of it.

Thanks for the interest!

Cruising Speed: 22kts. (25mph)
Top Speed: 28 kts. (32mph)
Fuel Consumption @ Cruise: 2 mpg per engine

This is a VERY fuel efficient boat!

The owner is open to offers...he has found a new boat and needs to get this baby sold.

i may be interested. couple questions. does 2mpg per motor=1mpg? what is fuel capacity & real range? any recent survey? i'm looking for an older bertram to bring to connecticut, i'll also need to finance or sell my 23 w/a real quick so a favorable survey would be a must. i'll have my "admiral" view the photos by this week-end. respnd here or pm if site permits thanks....mick

Thanks for signing in Vince and for clarifying some of those things! Vince is the owner of the Bertram...he is the final authority on it. It is a sweet boat and needs a good new home.

How would one get this boat assuming they wanted it ? In NJ for example? Sorry for the green question.

Hi Sal -

Not a green question at all! There are transport companies that specialize in moving boats via semi-trailers.

Vince has already gotten a quote of roughly $2500 to pull the boat out of the water here in Michigan, prep it for transport (remove props and all other vulnerable pieces), and deliver it to New Jersey. That quote was from a local transporter here that delivers boats all over the country. Hope that helps.

Tom

2 MPG at cruising speed? So this has a 510 mile range? If true, that's incredible.

The 2MPG claim is in error or I misunderstand the math. There is no Bertram 28 ever made with gas engines that can achieve that. Running at 21 Kts those engines burn more than 10 gph each. I think the real answer is closer to 1 MPG which is actually optimistic for a Bert 28.

Default Re: ***REDUCED AGAIN***1982 Bertram 28?? Flybridge - 100% Freshwater Boat - Lots of Pix!

It maybe misstatement because I have never ran cruising speed for a whole tank. All I know is that the Dyno report on the motors state optimal cruising speed is3300rpm and this equates to 8.7 gph each(17.4total) The actual speed at 3300 is 23.6knots (flat seas and 1/2 tank). The dyno report does not take into consideration weight, sea, wind, current, etc. Sorry about the confusion! I just thought that 23.6knots and 17.4gph would equate closer to 2mpg than 1mpg. I did not sit down and do the exact math. Sorry.

Vince
