Default 21 Mako-will trade for 22-24 bay/lake boat

21 Mako w/225 Opti. Rocket launchers, VHF, brand new Garmin 2010C, telescoping outriggers, about 325 hours on engine. Just put new chrome rims and tires also. The tires still have the tiny rubber studs on them. Boat has plenty of power and the Optimax runs great. Engine has been flushed after every use and the boat has been thoroughly cleaned as well. I also just had the engine serviced. All new plugs, water filter and also changed the oil in the lower unit to get ready for the fishing season. Nice boat..it's been fished from the sounds on NC for Red Drum to 45 miles off the coast of SC catching Mahi and Kings. FINAL PRICE REDUCTION $22,500 or possible trade for a 22-24ft center console bay series type boat of equal value.

That's a nice package for $24K. You might want to post your location.

Boat tops out at 52 according to the GPS. That's with 1 person, little gas, and no gear. The Opti 225 is great in that it allows you to cruise about 40 to 42 mph with out over taching the engine. With that much motor it also allows you to conserve fuel bc you don't have to run full throttle to get it to perform. I can tell you I ran 45 miles north one day out of Oregon Inlet, trolled all day and then 45 miles back and I burned 38 gallons of fuel. Hope that helps some. I've never looked at all the performance numbers but I fish with some buddies of mine with other 2 stroke engines and they don't get the same performance out of theirs.

Forgot to mention that the GPS has a Chip that covers from VA to South Carolina. And the boat has recessed trim tabs.

So you are saying you ran a total trip of 90 miles plus all day of trolling and only burned 38 gallons??? Is that oil or gas?? Those are some awesome numbers

That's correct. Keep in mind I don't run the engine very hard.

Afraid not but I do have a portable toilet that the wife and kids use while on the boat if it'll close the deal. :-)

Any more pics (particularly of console and stern)?

How wet is the ride and how does she handle 2-3' chop? I worry a bit about the open transom.

The transom is probably not as open as you may think. The opening is very small and I've never had water wash in the back of the boat because of how the transom is built. The boat does great is a 2-3' chop. It's a very sea worthy boat. The trim tabs make a ton of difference and the 225 Optimax has plenty of power to push the bow of the boat through the waves. Wet? If the wind is blowing from the side you're gonna get some spray just as you would with any other boat. This is a "big" 21 foot, heavy boat. It's not built for speed although it runs pretty well with the larger engine. If I were to keep the boat I would certainly add curtains just as I would with any boat.

I will add some more pics

I'd be willing to discuss the matter. We're moving to Charlotte and that's actually the reason I'm selling my bigger boat. I wanted a larger center console/bay series type boat to have on Lake Norman. Feel free to send me a PM with your thoughts. I have a series of meetings tomorrow but I'll be available after 6:30pm if you want to talk about it in person.
