Thats hard to believe.I had two of those motors in a 30Fortier Express and she only topped at 22kts.
Welp I guess you saw it Hanson. yup she did it. The Duffy hull was designed to be effecient. I believe a scale modle was put in a test tank and tweeked for effeciency and speed. I'm sure it was never conciderd at the time of design that todays power plants would be installed into workboat hulls so I'm sure some of todays designs could be better suited for those 1000 hp engines. I'm sure a basic lobsterboat with the new volvo d6 (330 ,370 or 425) would crank a 35 duffy . I'd guess WOT would be low 30s to maybe high 30s respectively.

Like Crisrack, I have had emails and PMs.
I might as well sum up some stuff that has been offered around the different threads and wherever.
First of all my 1983 35 duffy is only a basic lobsterboat. The only add ons I did when Duffy and Duffy built the boat was a V berth and the deck was built extra heavy to maybe install dragging equiptment at a later date. I also had the engine lowered. The boat has a washdown , 12" hydroslave pot hauler, ss david and electronics like Icom VHF. Furuno 667. furuno gps and a standard horizon cp1000. The engine was replace with a brand new 200hp Volvo Penta tamd 41 in, I believe 2001 or 2 and the borg warner 2.5 was rebuild for the first time a year or 2 later.
It has been implied that my boat is to slow to be a pleasure boat. So I will as I posted someplace? buy back the volvo engine and gear if someone repoweres in a timely manor for $5000. I would call a timely manor as immediately or a month or 2 tops. I feel a person is much better off knowing they have their own chosen hp and engine preference. The boat just happens to be stored in the boatyard where many of the local lobstermen have engine work done and may work out to be in everyones intrest. I feel I can offer this because I will probably be looking for a smaller less expencive lobster boat for my son, probably a BHM31 and can concider the volvo engine for that boat. I can't budge from my current pricing because If the price is any lower I might as well give the boat to my son.
I do appreciate everyones questions and hope this gets everyone to understand my position and what I can and can't do.
Thanks again for your intrest.
Scott

On the other site it says sale pending but you've increased the price?
That is because the sale pending is not my boat. That is someone elses boat of about equall value. It is a balance of what I see in that boat compared to what I have in my boat. The hull is the same and it has a less valuable engine which has a history of being less relyable than my Volvo. It probably isn't as newe as my engine either. I am valueing that boat more simply because it is likely to go a few miles an hour faster than mine. Electronics are really worthless in a boats sale unless they are brand new and current.
Those numbers can't be right, my 26ft Allmand cruises at 18kts with the same motor (2002 TAMD41P).
Oh Sorry everyone,, I switched to saying MPH since building the new boat in Maine where that seems to be how lobster boats are measured for speed. Maybe because that is what the radar guns use during lobsterboat races??? That would be mph stringer bell and WOT was at repower at sea trial . I don't bring it up too 3800. Maybe that is why I got in excess of 23,000 hrs out of the original engine. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
40-series motors are beasts, i know of several that are still working and over 25,000 hours. however, pushing the 35 footer is gonna take some HP....keep in mind you lose power thru transmission, so its only about 180-185 that is the propeller power. your buddy chris gets same #s with 320hp motor, i am not saying you gotta time lobster boat and it definitely can serve certain purpose with 200hp motor, but put up realistic #s....your son is gonna be happy with his gift

yea sorry for not specifying kts. I think Crisracks boat is slightly faster. Chris also has alot more weight than my boat. Remember I only have a very basic boat lobsterboat and the reason for being light, extremely fuel effecient and good speed with little hp. We really have 2 different boats. Thats why I don't compare mine to his. The boat linked is more the equivalant to mine. Probably due to engines, mine is worth more even though mine is not waxed and buffed. Mine is Walters keel cooled which that boat didn't say but that is more value in a lobsterboat .
PS I saw you sold your 35 Duffy, Congrats on both or all three , the great rebuild you did, the sale now that you are heading to Florida and your move to florida! Sure seems like you had it made where you were but you can't knock anyone for moving up in the world! congrats again!
That's more than you were asking. How does that happen?
I would guess you are getting scammed. Make sure you deposit the check and allow 2 weeks before handing over the title.
I think I would also call SunCor Energy, talk to the procurement (purchasing) office and see if the check and check # are valid.
I've sold my house and got more than the asking price so I'm not surprised I got a little extra pocket change for the boat. I knew I wasn't asking enough for it anyway but just assumed I had to knock off money because of the market.
I'll make sure I have cash in hand but calling Sunco Energy sounds like a good idea. What do they want with a lobster boat?????????? Maybe they need a commercial rated boat????

Just reading this, oh my god boatman, please be very careful, every-time we here of anything like this it is a scam.
Be very, very careful, it sounds definitely like a scam.
Spring is coming! These boats are well known for their sea kindlyness.
Great speed to efficency ratio. .This boat only has a 200 hp volvo but she tops out at 21 and can cruse at 18. There is no fuel meter but I'd guess cruise burn rate would be about 7 gph.
