Default 1970 Boston Whaler 1993 Yamaha - SOLD 4/25/09

1970 Boston Whaler (16'7") blue cockpit, white hull
1993 Yamaha 2-stroke outboard (90 HP)
1987 EZ-Loader galvanized 4-bunk trailer

This Whaler does show its age somewhat but it is very solid.
There is some spider cracking in the interior gelcoat commensurate with the boat's age.
There are a couple gel coat/glass repairs on the interior that are conspicuous but structurally sound.
Bottom paint should be redone if you intend to moor/slip.

New in the last 2.5 years:
*Mahogany console, rear bench seat, and anchor locker hatch.
*Todd flip-flop cooler seat with mahogany seat stays.
*Teleflex NFB steering.
*Navigation lights and 16 gauge tinned stranded wire.
*Cabelas AGM battery.
*Cabelas mooring/trailer cover.
*12 gal. Tempo and 3 gal. Moeller fuel tanks and fuel lines.
*Rule 500 gph bilge pump with built-in float switch.
*Assorted cupholders/rodholders, etc.
*A few other odds and ends.

The motor runs very well.
The compression tested even last year.
*New water pump and fuel filter installed 2 years ago and new spark plugs this year.
*13" x 17" Yamaha painted stainless steel prop.
Max speed at 5300 RPM (WOT) measured 42 MPH on GPS with 2 adults and full fuel.
Cruises at 3200-3300 RPM in the mid-high 20s depending on load.
Pulls skiers and tubes with ease (with 2-3 on board).

Trailer has 4 bunks and is in good shape.
*New lights and wires 2 years ago.
*Bearings repacked last fall.
*New PVC guides last year.

Sale will include above mentioned items plus:
*Stainless steel framed sunbrella bimini top and boot (good frame and useable top but with a few patches.)
*Anchor and 150' of rode
*2 dock lines and 2 fenders
*4 life jackets and a throwable
*Fire extinguisher, flare gun, signal whistle/mirror
*Folding boarding ladder.

I hold a transferrable registration for the boat (due to the boat's age NY State did not issue a title).
I also hold a transferrable registration for the trailer.

Boat, motor, trailer and gear weigh about 2,000 pounds total so most vehicles are capable of towing this package.

Asking $4500.

Boat is in Queensbury, NY 12804.

Nice Whaler.
I'm not familiar with New York's requirements, why doesn't the boat have a title?
Thanks,

Here is the language from the NY DMV Website:

Do boats require title certificates?
The DMV issues title certificates for boats that are:
  • model year 1987 and newer,
  • at least 14 ft. long, and
  • registered in New York State.
The title certificate is used for proof of ownership for these boats instead of the registration. Title certificates are not issued for boats that do not match the description above or for boats registered with the Coast Guard. For a boat that does not receive a title certificate, the transferable registration is proof of ownership.

I'm not sure why they do it this way but everything is legit and I have all the required documents. Thanks for looking.

Yes it is.

You might want to read this thread to get caught up.

http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-...ing-rough.html

The short version is that when I fired up the motor last week it was running a bit rough so I took it into the shop and found out that the carburetors needed to be rebuilt. The shop is doing this work now. The good news was that everything else checked out great so when I get it back (should be in the next day or so) the motor will be tip-top.
