Nice boat and restoration. How does it ride compared to your 25? Also, what is the top speed?

Thanks,

Thanks. As far as the ride goes, it close enough you can't tell a difference. But performance wise the 300 is the way to go. When I raised the floor the plan was for a 4stroke to be put on it. At least a 300 or by the time I needed a 4stroke a 350 or 400 would be a better choice. Boat is rated for 500hp and the transom could very easily handle it. Conditions just right you can hit 45. In the ocean with your gear you are looking at a good 40, thats with the engine trimmed down and tabs. Cruise 4200rpm at 32mph at 2.0mpg. Cruise 38/3900 at 28mph at 2.5mpg. A bracket on these boats are diffenatly the way to go. You can tell the biggest difference in a sea and the ability the motor has to keep the bow down.

I am actually looking at the later 80s model GW's. Some I have noticed have the brackets on them. I will have to pass at this time. Thanks

Please help me understand why you had to raise the floor?

I would imagine so the weight of the engine would not keep the scuppers under water, since this boat was built before 4 stroke outboards. This is just a guess... Nice looking boat BTW

You do not have to raise the floor putting a 2stroke on it. My plan was, and still may, was to put a 4stroke on it. With the extra weight I wanted to make sure it would self bail, which it does easily. Like I said it is 1.5" higher than the factory floor, and could easily handle todays 300hp/350hp 4strokes. Thanks
