Here is what happened in September: The impeller stopped working and the motor overheated and damaged the head gasket. a new water pump has been installed and pumps great, but unfortunetly the heat damaged a head gasket and the gasket for the exhaust cover. The cylinder head and exhaust cover are currently off the motor. The motor needs about 100 dollars worth of parts to get it running again, all of which are available. The repair is straight forward, all you have to do is install the new gaskets and exhaust cover and bolt it on and you should have a running motor.
There comes a time in all mens' lives when the must sell a boat to BUY A NEW ONE!!!. I am selling my 1986 13' Boston Whaler Super Sport with a 35 hp motor. The motor is a 1978 Johnson electric start that runs great.
Newer Battery
Bottom painted
Trailer in very good condition.
3 coats of varnish on the Mahogany
I do my boating in Barnegat bay New Jersey. This is a great boat for the bay, and for the ocean on very calm days. Very stable. good fishing platform. I am looking to move up to a 17,18, or 19 foot boat. I am open to trades, I do not care about the brand, only that the boat be in good condition.
Price: 3900

Thanks for the compliment. The motor is 10 years older because about 4 years ago, the boat was completely refurbished, and the gentlemen who did the resotration new a mechanic who had a rebuilt engine that he could put on the boat. The engine has been very reliable, and starts right up.
I love the 13s. There is no boat that is more fun, less maintenance or less economical to run. I'd take a look, but I already have an 86 13. Nice boat!!

I agree. 8 hours on the water burns about 6 or 7 gallons of gas! In addition, I have taken this boat out of Barnegat inlet a few times, it has proven to be a very stable casting platform to schoolie bluefish and stripers. My family wants a bigger boat, and who am I to complain? If you have a slightly larger boat, up to 19 feet, perhaps a trade can be worked out

I'm not trying to give you a hard time but it's obvious the motor has some problems other than gaskets and a cover.
Wrong. But feel free to speculate wildly if it makes you happy. Anyway, to have it done by a mechanic, which I would do because I don't have a torque wrench would involve about 50 $ for labor and a hassle on my half regarding ordering the parts, dropping off the parts, scheduling, and testing the motor. All of which I don't want to be bothered with. That is why I a selling the boat as-is.
To the person that requested the total length, I would say 16.5 feet. The boat is not at my house so that is just a guess.
I will get you better pics, anybody looking for a 13' ought to check this out. Buy it and monitor craigslist for a used 25/30/35/40/50 hp engine in good condition and you will be very happy.
