1999 Mako 252 25 foot with 8 1/2 beam.
Twin Optimax 150 Saltwater's. Low hours on engines. Professionally maintained. Boat is rated for twin 200's. Cruises at 28 - 30 mph, WOT = 42 - 46mph depending on load. 4 blade Mirage props. 180 gallon fuel tank. Dual 3 gal. oil reservoirs. Hydraulic steering. Bennett recessed trim tabs.

Electronics include Lowrance 111HD combo chartplotter/sonar, ICOM M127 VHF with Digital Antenna, Sitex ProFishII sonar/plotter, Simrad 24nm radar with semi-3D display view, AM/FM stereo with 4' antenna.

On-board battery charger with shore plug. Saltwater washdown, and freshwater shower. Although not shown, I have cushions for front seating. Also has fold-down rear bench seat. Upgraded leaning post. Armstrong swim/dive ladder. Lots of storage.

Extra, high water bilge pump. Electric head with holding tank and overboard discharge.

Taco Super Slam outriggers. Canon downrigger. 50 gal bait well Extra rod holders in gunwale and on leaning post.

Wide Open II

Yep, CT. The Wide Open II needs a new home and water to play in. It's been a great boat for us, and still is. We've fished everything from the flats in panhandle to 50 miles offshore. An extremely versatile boat. We're moving up to a bigger boat to make filming our TV shows a little easier. Need more room for camera crew to get around. If it weren't for the fact that I need the $ to help offset the cost of the new boat, I'd probably keep the Mako to just 'go fishing' in, because it will definitely be lot less expensive to operate than a 31 footer with twin 300's. At the moment, the Cape Horn 31 is at the top of the list. They make a bulletproof boat and the folks at the factory have been extremely friendly and helpful with my questions.

What are the performance numbers with the twin 150's

Cruise at 28 - 30 mph WOT is 38 - 42 with a reasonable load on the boat.

I'm not a hard-core, go fast guy... that's why I put the 150's on it, plus I liked the better fuel economy.

I don't have accurate fuel burn numbers --- no flowmeters or digital gauges --- but I can safely say that I can spend an entire weekend offshore on one tank of gas. It would only be an educated guess, but I'd say somewhere in the 1.8 to 2.5 mpg... and definitely better than that with the type of fishing I do, which is mostly trolling. I know that's a nebulous response, but I typically run 35 + miles and troll all day (running from spot to spot in between) and still have at least 1/3 tank left after 2 to 2 1/2 days fishing. Again, I'm not hard on the engines, and typically only run at WOT when I'm getting close to home so I can clean the plugs after trolling all day. If I'm offshore, I seldom kill the engines, even if I'm bottom fishing.
