Default SOLD!!! 28' Carolina Cat custom pilot house cat w/ twin Yamaha 225 fourstrokes

28' Carolina Cat pilot house w/ twin Yamaha 225 Fourstrokes. The hull is a 99' and the Yamahas are 2002's with just over 400 hours on them. The boat is 28' and has a beam of 11'2" giving it an enormous cockpit area as you can see in the pics. There is a small berth up front, a small galley area with a sink and space for an alcohol stove, and also an enclosed head. Everything on the boat works as it should (I'm a bit fanatical about that). The outboards were just seviced last week and are perfect. The boat rides and handles great. I've had it as far as 110 miles offshore Clearwater on an overnight trip and never felt nervous or unsafe. It's the only cat boat that I've been on that can handle the autopilot. Other than a few small chips and scratches that don't show in the pictures, the boat is in very good condition. It is equiped as follows:

Furuno 1850DF color GPS/ Depthfinder
Simrad AP-11 Auto pilot
Icom VHF
AM/FM stereo with 10 disc changer
Freshwater washdown with 20 gal. tank
Saltwater washdown
2 huge in floor fishboxes with macerators
Large livewell
Full Canvas to enclose the pilot house (I'll get some pics of that)

Feel free to call me with any questions at 863-370-3333. The only reason for selling the boat is that I live in Lakeland, FL and keep the boat on a lift in Clearwater and I don't use it enought to justify owning it. I'll probably get something a little smaller. It would make an awesome dive boat, or even a charter boat, but honestly just more boat than I need. I know the boat market is a little off so realistically I think the boat should do $47,500.

Sorry, I'm not too good at the picture thing, I tried to add a review that Power Boat Reports did on the boat when it first came out. I appologize in advance for the size of the pics (haven't figured out how to resize)

I've received a few PM's inquiring about a possible trade. I really haven't figured out exactly what kind of boat I'm going to get next. Really can't decide if I should get a bay boat and give up the offshore capability, or get a smaller center console that will do inshore and offshore. Either way I'll lose the capability to run deep. So for now I'm probably not going to want to trade for anything. I'd hate to trade for something and then find out it isn't what I wanted.

Got a PM asking if the boat is trailerable. Yes, but in the state of FL you must buy a oversize permit to do so (approx. $25 per year). Here is a link to another Carolina Cat that is for sale that comes with a trailer :

I think he's a little on the high side on his asking price though. LOL.

FL-fisher-
That's a lot of boat for the money. I'm a cat nut, and I've only seen one of these boats, in Beaufort, NC.

Any idea how many were made? I'd love to know the history.

abfish, I believe there was only 10 or 12 of these made. I've saw 3 others. The history on this boat is that it was originally a South African design used mainly for
search and rescue and government applications where they needed a very stable platform and could go out in any sea. The molds were bought and moved to
North Carolina and built under the name of Carolina Cat. Not sure if the operation was under funded or poorly managed or
what the problem was, but they didn't last too long. They definately over built these boats, but probably not finished out as
nice as a World Cat or some of the other production models. They were made to be more of a commercial grade vessel.
I remember the first day I stepped on the boat, I just had to have it. It has the biggest cockpit of any boat I've ever been
on under 30 ft. I've got some more infomation on the builder somewhere, I'll dig it up and post it. I want to say he was a
former Hatteras employee.

Hey guys, the boat is tentatively sold. Will know for sure by Thurs. this week. A complicated sale due to shipping out of the country.
familiar with the hull prior to them being bought by the company in North Carolina. I'll post when I know for sure, but he had a friend
here in FL come over and test drive the boat and take very detailed pics of her and gave the thumbs up. While out on the test drive
I started wondering why in the world I was selling it, I definately can't replace it for the money. Oh well I guess better that having
it just sit on the lift not getting used. Thanks again for all of the PM's and e-mails on the boat and I'll keep everyone updated.

The boat has been sold. It took quite a while to work out all of the shipping arrangements. The boat is being shipped
to Mosambique, just North of South Africa. I'd love to work out a fishing trip down there after the new owner gets the
boat set up the way he wants it for Black Marlin fishing. Thanks for all of the intrest in the boat. The Hull Truth is a great
place to network and sell.
