This will be the last two weeks for my listing as I have started prepping the boat. The bottom is done ,the hull is waxed, all stainless has been cleaned and waxed. All that is left is to commission the engine.
For those who may not know this old OMC brand you are missing out. The hull is an Earl Bentz design and is built like an absolute tank. She sports classic 3 piece construction, is all hand laid solid glass and all of the hardware was through bolted at the factory. Hard chines make her very stable at rest...perfect for drifting rips...and the reasonalbly deep-v and massive weight for her size allows for comfortable travel offshore. This is a true 22 foot boat as well, not a 20 footer with a Euro-transom. The interior space is comparable to newer 24-25 foot boats. They don't build 'em like this anymore.
I fish mine for stripers in the shallows and rips in the spring and have no problem chasing tuna 40-50 miles out all summer long.
I'm a little biased because I own one, but this boat is as close as you'll getto the perfect New England small boat...and with new power as well...someone should jump on this.
There is something about your boat that is different than mine, but I can't put my finger on it. They are a good boat and as you say ,built like a tank. I've never had mine out as far as you have gone, but on the right day I would be more than comfortable going out that many miles. I fish the rips a lot and the boat is very stable. The wind doesn't move it at all. I remember a man that painted the bottoms in the yard where i store mine telling me that this boat had a lot of hull in the water below the waterline. This is probably the reason they are so forgiving when fishing in the rips. I know you were interested in looking at mine. The cover is off and the exterior is waxed and bottom painted. i have not had a chance to do the interior as it has been too cold as of late to do much work. I have ordered a new electronics box and will install that when it comes in. Thanks for your kind words on these boats.
