23,500???
That's what I'm thinking.

I would have a serious problem paying that much for a boat where I would trip over the GAS LINE every time I walked behind the leaning post.

Tripping over fish is more of an issue. we can even run the fuel line below decks in one of our rigging tubes. In addtion the fuel tank was placed above decks to find the perfect CG (center of gravity) of the hull; once i found where the tank with 28 gallons would be best suited i can then place below the floor.

Think of it this way, you will never need gull wings! which would not allow you to even attempt to access the bow of the boat your advertising in your post, because the BATTLE WAGON is very dry in rough seas. Moreover, even with 3 very large men on the deck underway-38mph at different locations the BATTLE WAGON 18 did not need nor doesnt have TRIM TABS. I ask you to join me for a ride and compare the 18 ride to larger boats...just bring your hat and mittens i will supply the life jacket fuel and smile on your face.

Thank you all for your support. We even have a few dealers interested! some may balk at the price, but the price compared to others is very fair and even less then the competition, and the boats are selling.
Best,
Christian Del Collo

Looks like it would be a good mullet boat, or bream boat, but I wouldn't go too far offshore with it....without a slash guard or something. But that's just me. I think that I'd paint it red and call it my "little red wagon", somehow....battlewagon and 18 foot doesn't go together.

This is starting to make me laugh. First 23K is insane, I would say more like 10-12K is more like it. Second, he doesn't want to say the deadrise because the competition might figure it out. Are you serious? There is not a builder out there who hides their deadrise specs because it can be easily measured. I would usually never knock someone but this is laughable. I'm sorry. Good Luck.

is there something wrong about not sharing the dead rise? Sorry to offend, the dead rise at the transom is 16 degrees. May want to price a 18' dry, smooth riding 49.3 mph boat with a trailer, you may be surprised also see if they offer a lifetime structural warrantee. This type of boat is not for everyone. Its for those who dont want to sell or buy a new boat every 3 years and understand and appreciate a well built boat. It is a hull that will last in the family for a very long time. The BATTLE WAGON is built like a destroyer ship -thus the name. You all are invited for a ride, just bring warm clothing

Christian,
You say this particular boat is yours, it sounds nice and looks good as a basic boat. The problem I have is it seems like this ad is just nothing short of free advertising because you are going to some length about all the customization that can be done and all. 19 whole posts and majority seem to be advertising ur rig that you build and sell...

ding, ding, ding....We have a winner....that's all this is.

But, I have to hand it to him, first it was a battlewagon....now it's morphed into a destroyer battleship ....I like it .... keep 'em coming. Did he say 49 miles an hour?

Gang,
I am offering you a ride. You can decide to take me up on the boat ride, or you can observe from a far.
no customizations, just a plain hull. You all ask many important questions, i received permission to type the answers in the for sale forum. The thread is simply a ad for my boat.

I saw the thread in the other forum, you mentioned a price of $7800 if I remember correctly (it has been edited out now) Why is it suddenly so much more expensive?

In all honesty, I would not use "ride" and "dryness" as selling points in this design. I could be wrong, but I don't think the average boat will not be buying an 18' bay/skiff type boat (as this is) and run in rough stuff intentionally. They most likely would purchase an equally capabile, (might be slightly wetter or might be slightly rougher) better equipped boat at a cheaper price that may not last as long. I would be interested in the toughness (stress testing, etc) and show some pictures of the build process (show the advantages over comparable boats) to increase the reputation that way. Then you can justify the price.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the lines & layout and I think marketed right, you could have a great design!

Hull with console only is $8700
I believe dryness and sea handling characteristics are important in any size boat no matter what sea conditions. Thank you for your point of view and compliments of the hull design. In what ways would you market differently?

Christian

Easy- trailer, labor to setup trailer, motor rigging, motor setup labor, fuel tank, fuel rigging, leaning post.

$8700 for the hull is not a bad at all. I built a 15 footer and ran into around $5000 for the finished hull. Now factor in labor.

I agree, they are important, but I'm not sure if they are prudent enough to warrant the cost of $23k. But, I do think a design that shows all angles, how and why it is better, and illustrates it is better than a reputable company will gain you respect. If it were me and it is what you say, I would play that card in my marketing efforts.

Maritime skiff is about the same price. Rolled edge skiff. I think the benefit here is cost of ownership. perfect for barnegat bay etc. The cost does put thing in perspective however. The Pursuit with twins on this post is $18gs and there have been several potter built seacrafts under $20g's. This forum is alive and well because no decision is easy.

I have noticed this boat advertised in a few local boating papers and was curious of the price, nice simple lines, but I think I would have had more interest if it was around $15 - $16K boat and motor and maybe a simple bunk trailer for an extra 1000. I just don't see people keeping a boat for generations and worrying about if it will hold up in 20 years. I've bought and sold three boats in the last 5 years alone just because I'm bored with them!
I would come down in price a little get more product out there, let people at the dock boast about the smooth, dry ride and then drive up the price. just an idea
I wish you the best of luck with your venture.

Thank you all for your opinions and thoughts. I set out to use the hull truth as a litmus test to gauge interest and ideas regarding the 18 and I was able to gain some valuable info on who would purchase and how much boaters are willing to spend. There are some good ideas in the works to make this boat a more realistic purchase for the person who needs a boat at a lesser cost. i.e. not all boats need to be equipped with a 90hp or 115hp motor. However all the hulls must be built to BATTLE WAGON high quality standards!

Again thank you for your past and continued thoughts and comments.

Christian Del Collo

$23500, YES. B/C It’s the smoothest, driest, most fuel efficient well built and speedy for its class of boat. This hull is for a person who owns a larger sport fish but wants a boat they can beat down and not have to worry about a soggy floor, rotted transom, or hardware working loose, or getting wet when coming home from a fish, play or work outing. It’s also for the 1st time boat enthusiast who demands all around performance and quality. The boat comes with a lifetime structural warrantee!

What old boat was this hull splashed from? I have seen a hull that looks like this one but it was back in the early 80s. My buddy had a boat almost identical to this one but it had a windshield and back to back seats.......
