Gill,

Not sure what I'm going to get, I'm looking for something a little larger and more "Family" oriented - cabin, A/C. I absolutely love my SeaVee... So, maybe SeaVee will finally come out with their planned 40'+ express...

Thank you Dr.

That's one of the positive effects of having to wait 1 year while your SeaVee is being built. You have plenty of time to think and rethink your features and layout. Having used the boat for several years now, I can honestly say there is nothing I would have done differently.

How many hours on the engines?
Is the trailer included?

One great looking boat/fishing machine

I don't have an hour gauge so I'm not sure how many hours the engines have. On average, the boat has been used 2-3 days per month, for 3 years. Some of the "hours" numbers I've seen quoted on other threads for similar boats seem extremely low. I'm hesitant to guess at a number.

There are some extremely knowledgeable folks on this forum. Does anyone know if the number hours are attainable by hooking up the engines to a computer?

Your service tech can do that . Is the trailer included?

Beautiful Boat!! Goodluck on the sale! It is a tuff market right now.
If you are looking for more of a family fisherman the Seavee 42 should be nice. If not your other best bet is to trade her in to FYI or allied. In my case they would give me 165k if I were to trade in so its not to bad. Well goodluck!!!

Getting the hours is easy. When you first turn the key on (before you start it) the tach will jump to a certain number. If it jumps to 4000 rpm (for instance) that means 400 hours.

If it jumps to a number + the engine light flashes, each flash counts as 500 hours. So if the engine light flashes once, and the tach jumps to 4000 rpm, that means 900 hours total.

JUst got back from the Ft Lauderdale boat show and I liked the 32 Sea Vee better than anything else I saw for fishability. Awesome boat. It is my understanding that they are a little heavier and slower than some of the others such as the Yellowfin 31 which I am also considering. The layout of the SV is a whole lot nicer from the non-skid, lack of drain gutters all over the floor(I have peev about those), and finish work. Mileage is a huge consideration nowadays though.
Im curious to hear what kind of mileage you get at and what kind of speeds.

Thanks

I was doing the test rides on Saturday for SeaVee and all I can tell you is that 32 is one bad a$$ boat. It was sporty out there and the boat just ate it up. Had the 39 quad boat come by and they looked like they could have been having a couple of cocktails that boat was so straight and planted, even the guy that I was giving the test ride to on the 32 was commenting how nice that 39 looked coming thru the water. Can't wait to have my 32 done. Good luck with the sale.

I agree that the SeaVee is tops in fishability. When I was researching 31' boats, my short list was the SeaVee, Contender and Yellowfin. IMO, you can't even compare the finish on a SeaVee to Contender. Also, the Contender's console would not hold 2 - 10" screens. The finish on the Yellowfin is great - as good if not better than SeaVee. The Yellowfin also has the edge in hull design, speed and fuel economy. BUT, the Yellowfin is noticeably smaller... The SeaVee "31" is actually 32.5', while the Yellowfin LOA is just under 31'. Also, storage space and live well capacity is much greater in the SeaVee.

Now, if mileage is your main consideration, my boat may not be as attractive. As far as mileage, my SeaVee's drawback is it's upper station. While it's a great feature, it produces a great deal of drag. Depending on load - and I usually operate my boat with lots of fuel and a gear - I'm seeing 1.25-1.5 MPG. A friend that had the exactly the same SeaVee without the tower was getting 1.5-1.75 MPG. Also, be EXTREMELY CAREFUL about making fuel economy comparisons without first hand knowledge. My experience is that the numbers quoted more often than not are exaggerated or not based on real world conditions. The numbers I've provided are "real world". So, the boat weight makes it's and extremely stable and solid fishing platform, but your fuel economy will be less. Honestly, if you're looking for the best possible fishing platform, fuel economy should not be your main concern. I'm extremely happy to be able to go to the Bahamas and fish for 4-5 days without having to refuel.

Speed... With a light load I've had the boat up to 56 MPH. With a heavy load (full fuel and gear), you can still get the boat over 50 MPH.
