Great boat. I love that hull. I will own a 29 Blackfin, probably a Flybridge in the future. My Wife and Dad will not let me sell my 26 center console now. It says a lot, when this make has it's own website, and they have'nt made em since 1998. Seems like a good deal. good luck. Joe
born4h20, that's one great boat you have there. I had a 1997 combi with twin 318 Volvo diesels. It was set up just like yours.
They are one hell of a boat. Post your boat on the Blackfin forum. I sold my boat there.
Best of luck,
Peter
born4h20, Awesome boat. Is your boat kept on B dock at Brezelee. If so I checked her out every time walked past her going to my boat. She is very clean boat.
What is the bridge clearance with the outriggers down ? and does the sun tower shade fold down?(i have a bridge to clear in my lagoon)
Do you have any performance numbers ? range , cruise speed , wot speed?
what year Yanmars?
Surely one of the best riding boats in her class and I love the engine package but I have to ask......................How the hell do you see past the raft????????????????????????????????????????????? You must hit every log in the sea........................
Actually seeing over the raft is really easy once on plane and while running off plane. The only time I have any problem with visability is coming up on plane and that would be with or without the raft.
BTW - I thought the same thing when I was having the cradle made.
Lots of variables go into the cruise numbers. For instance with ½ fuel and 3 people she will run 29-30 knots (yes knots) @3400 rpm which is the recommended cruise rpms for those motors. Personally I like 3250-3275 which seems to be the sweet spot. At that rpm you are looking at 26-27 knots. If you run that rpm with full fuel and 300+ pounds of ice and 5-7 guys you are more like 24-25 Knots. If someone tells you they run 30 knots out and 30 knots in with that weight in gear an passengers they are probably fibbing a bit. I make it to the canyon in about 2.5 hrs (about 72 nautical miles from the slip).
I don’t usually do the math for the mpg or kpg. I run from Cape May to the Wilmington which is about 72KM. If I chunk at night and run genset, I take about 110-115, if I troll all day I burn about 125-135. Don’t think I have ever taken more than 135 on a canyon run.
By the way I am sure you all know it but 1 nautical mile (knot for short) = 1.15 statues miles. Not trying to insult anyone's intelligence but you need to look apples to apples when doing cruise speeds etc.
Tarpon007 - It is a fixed tower. The OR can use drop downs which I have but not installed. I make it under the Wildwood Crest bridge at the 24' mark on the scale with no problem.
My name is Gary, I have a 2003 27 cape horn twin 250 evenrudes(262 hrs) maintained by Tonys in cape may.electronics all raymarine 48nm radar,RL70CRC,X 2 screens ,3/4 enclosure.215 gal fuel,42 gal round lit live well,. Any other questions feel free to contact me directly 609-602-0701.thanks (looking to move up to a diesel boat.poss. partial trade & cash)
Are these the 300HP Yanmars? When did you repower? I have a '03 Hydrasports 26CC with 200HP direct injected Evinrudes; 160 hours and warranties 'till 2010. I'm actually looking for a 33 combi because I want a genset, but your 29 is a possibility if you're interested in the trade. Maybe a little bigger than you were looking for. Let me know at lydoniablock@gmail.com. Thanks and good luck.
