today is the day.....the first of october (ok, the 2nd of october), and the 2005 Got Salt? is officially For Sale. why? we'll be ordering a 2007 model for delivery around the 1st of the year. no other reason than that.
this boat has done so much these past 2 seasons and will continue to produce great fish and great times for the new owner as well. we have fished some tournaments--everything from finishing 8th in our division in the SKA, a first place tag and release in the mega-shark tournament, to numerous family fishing rodeos. just as important, you could have found the boat parked at the local sandbars, raft-ups, poker runs and any number of grilles along the coast. whenever we have any event, EVERYbody wants to ride with us. the boat is elegant, versatile and hard-core. this boat will do everything you ask of it--from fishing to touring, and still have plenty left over. worn out tournament boat? hardly. this is the flagship of the mckee tournament fleet, and as such sees plenty of boat shows and public showings. as such, it has always been kept in tip-top shape, but cosmetically and mechanically. she has miles on her, but so does kathy ireland, and i dont think too many folks would complain about her condition, eiter.
the boat is officially a 2005 Mckee Craft 23TE, but as everyone knows, its the same boat as a 24 Freedom.
24' LOA
24.5° deadrise at transom
8'-6" beam
180 gallon fuel cell
52 gallon baitwell--dual pumps
dual bilge pumps
stand up console
tons of storage and actual usable fish boxes
this boat is rigged with EVERY option Mckee offers, including 360° padded bolsters, freshwater washdown, saltwater washdown, taco outriggers, weblon top, full tackle center, spray wings, spray curtains--custom fitted at the factory, rear jump seat.
this boat has options and features that NO OTHER mckee has, including 6 rod holders in the top, the custom spray curtain configuration and a custom matched 'carbonfiber' dash panel.
the electronics package is second to none. all lowrancenet components. DUAL 111hd head units, 4kw 35nm radar dome, GPS (dual recievers) FF and all the maps you will ever need built in (sorry, my private waypoints not included!). this also includes the full lowrancenet gage system with 3 of the 4" gages and 2 of the 2" gages. each is networked and can display any number of data. the whole system is networked to the displays, so all gage data can actually be displayed on the 111hd displays! this network is state of the art and second to none (Best In Category Award Winner at ICAST 2005). lowrance radio mounted in the overhead box. Sony CD stereo is mounted in the overhead box, amplifier and Sony 10-disc changer mounted inside the console. the stereo system includs 4 Poly Planer gimbal mounted speakers, mounted under the gunnels, and out of sight and out of the elements for the most part. Speaker wire is Monster cable.
power is twin 200 big block e-tecs programmed for XD100 oil. engines have about 650 hours. if you have followed any of our threads, you know we have the most advanced, up to date and cared for evinrudes out there. these motors have been tweaked and twiddled over for 2 years now, and every adjustment, update and factory enhancement that could be made, has been made. of course, we also have the 7 year warranty as well. included with the sale are the 21 viper props currently on the boat, and a pair of 21 cyclone 4 blade props for the new owner to try and decide which is your preference.
included in this whole package is everything need to hit the water--all USCG equipment and a couple of gallons of oil, to boot.
we're in discussions with our downrigger sponsor about new riggers for next season, so im planning on the downriggers staying with the boat, but thats just a maybe right now.
the wrap is buyers choice. it can easily stay on the boat, or it will be professionally removed to reveal the fighting lady yellow hull that lies underneath. the original McKee Craft decals will be installed.
dual torsion axle aluminum trailer with kodiak disc brakes and ALL aluminum and SS hard ware. the ONLY galvanized parts you will find on the trailer are the axles themselves. every nut, washer and ubolt are stainless.
it would be difficult to blue book the value of the boat, with all the options that are nowhere in the book. MSRP for the whole rig, including boat, motor, trailer, electonics and rigging is probably in the 95,000 range easily. add another 5K for the wrap and replacement value would be expected to be 100,000.
this entire package is being offered for 72,000 and we'll deliver up to 500 miles at no charge.
the boat is located in pensacola, fl and we're always only 10 minutes from have it ready for an in the water test anytime.
we wont order until thanksgiving. i sorta hope we still have this one for ft. pierce! its tuned like a freaking stratovarious for the national championship! but, whatever happens, happens. if we have a buyer, we'll fish in my dads pontoon boat. well, i gotta check and make sure its under 23 feet, i guess?!
Drew - the bidding starts when you put Jamie on the accessory list... Good luck with the sale. Thats got to be the best known and equipped 23 TE around anywhere!! Somebody will get a turnkey in mint+ condition.

i wanted to add some more description. this is pretty much whats going into the web ad...
It time to move to the next model year, so our 2005 McKee Craft 23TE (24 feet overall) with twin 200 big block e-tecs is for sale. This boat has the best of everything and every conceivable option is already on board. It’s rigged to the hilt with everything a serious angling family needs to have a successful day on the water. The McKee is more elegant than other boats, and all the while is unmatched in its seaworthiness. From the 360° padded bolsters, to the stand-up console to the deep deep freeboard, this boat feels as comfortable as it looks. With sea manners to withstand the sloppy days, and performance to impress on perfect days, your run to the rigs or canyon will be pleasant and quick. Fully rigged with the very latest and greatest Lowrancenet electronics, including DUAL 10” displays each with hard drives and full 36 mile radar capacity. Sounder included dual frequency transducer for optimum performance inshore and at any depth. A total of 5 digital Lowrance gages display all engine parameter data through the NMEA2000 network. Everything from speed, RPM, engine temp, barometric pressure, water temp, and trim position can be displayed. Included in the displays are the full function fuel management system. There is no other fuel management system that can do all this one can, from typical GPH, MPG for either engine, and vessel, fuel used for the trip, and fuel used for the season and all data is fully programmable so you can customize to fit your needs. For your fishability, a 52 gallon lighted, dual pumped baitwell will keep the largest and most delicate bait thriving. The high freeboard adds not only obvious safety to your trip, but the thick padded bolsters are high enough for everyone to be comfortable fighting big fish. With a total capacity of over 600 qts, you won’t have any trouble keeping the days catch cold. Two tackle boxes and a drawer are installed in the leaning post and in the right place for cockpit rigging. An optional tackle center is installed in the console and includes 4 tackle boxes, a huge catch-all bin and 2 large tackle drawers. Since the boat is foam filled, every in-deck storage is incredibly insulated. Taco Grand Slam outriggers, mounted to the weblon t-top, is perfect for spreading your baits. Creature comforts for the family are the large stand up console, for storage of everything, or portable head. The bolsters and freeboard will be welcomed when your smaller anglers are on board. Padded cooler in front of the console, padded baitwell lid and optional fold away rear seat provide plenty of seating for those evening cruises or day trips with the kids. For safety’s sake, the boat is fully foam filled and certified unsinkable. All USCG equipment is included—lifejackets, throwable flotation, flares, etc. Power is supplied by twin 200 big block e-tecs. Motors have about 700 hrs, but only 120 on new 2007 powerheads. New waterpumps and full synthetic lower unit lube just completed. Motors have had every conceivable update and upgrade performed by certified BRP techs and the motors carry a 7 year warranty ‘til March of 2012! These motors have seen the most care and attention of any e-tec out there.
This boat has done plenty of fishing, traveling and cruising. Never once has it failed to thrill and impress everyone who rides.
The current wrap can be left on, or professionally removed to reveal the Fighting Lady Yellow hull underneath.

I had a 23' McKee before I moved up to the 28'. They are the best ridding boat under 25' on the market. I know the boat has been well maintained and carred for. Bump for a great boat. Good luck with the sale Drew.

OK guys, we've ordered our new 2007 23TE rigged with 175 etecs. delivery will be in a couple of months. i've given the THT community first dibs, and i'm offering a THT price of $69,000 for anyone from THT wishing to buy the boat. replacement cost is aroud 100, blue book value is nearly 80, so this is a givaway price for THT folks. other than the add on here, i havent actually tried to sell it yet (im still fishing!), but its time. i'm putting her in the boat trader on monday for the original price of $72,000.
What made you go with the 175 E-tecs instead of 200's again? Just curious. I've been tossing the idea of 175's on my HS but just don't know if I will see a difference in performance. Nice boat by the way.

we're dropping some weight off the transom. remember, mine are big block 200s, like the HOs. the new 200s are the small block, like the 175s. i know we'll be leaving 50 hp at the dealer by going with the 175s, but in studying the power curves for both, the 175 has a nice roll in the 4500rpm range. my estimations have me losing top end, but actually gaining cruizing speed and gaining cruise economy. all this looks great on paper, and im anxious to get the new boat on the water and see how close my figures are.
i have my reservations. i like to max out hp, but im hopeful this'll be a pleasing set up.
