While i was cast netting for minnows i got about 5 or 6 of these little guys

I believe those are what the old timers call Hog Stranglers. They would get into the hogs throats when they rooted along the rivers and the suction they have would stick in the throats of hogs and strangle the hogs, I don't no what the real name is but they sure look like baby flounders. If you ever get one on the deck of the boat they are hard to pick up due to the suction tyhey create.

We get baby flounder....baby sheepshead...eels.....even got a baby barracuda in the ocean with some Menhaden one time!!

called hog chokers down here...same thing
they are near impossible to get out of a bait trawl

Baby Permit.

That orange/yellow anal fin and the higher profile makes me think it's a permit. Pompano are lighter yellow when smaller. I've caught them about twice that size and they were definitely Permit.

While Permit and Pampano are none existant here for the most part. I have read several times that distingiushing between them in a juvenile stage is next to impossible.....

They look similar but it's not impossible. The pompano lacks the orange in the fins.
