My Brother and I took the new boat out for its first long run on 7-1-2006. Fished SW of the 100-400 out of Southport NC. Everthing worked perfectly. We ended the day by catching 25 Dolphin keeping 15 Dolphin and 2 Wahoo. Fought and lost one dolphin larger than the 42lber. We tried to run 6 lines and two teasers but the dolphin were tearing up the daisy chain teasers so we pulled them in and also pulled in two of the six lines because the fish were biting so good.
Met up with Tarnold and HBLAC about 50miles out. Weather was great and the fish were snapping. We had a easy cruise back in at around 36 mph. We could not have asked for a better day on the water.
Ended the day with the trip meter at 179 miles, 83 gal. of fuel burn
18 nice fish in the boat, and two left over BallyHoo. We also docked the boat at the Provision Co and ate in Southport.............. Mark
I was wondering if you were fishing your new boat on Saturday? So now I know, Sunday was your day. We fished the Black Jack area on Saturday and the dolphin were everywhere. We worked toward deeper water looking for a billfish, but got into a great Wahoo bite and also found a blackfin tuna.
What is the name of the new boat? Glad you are happy with the boat.
Mark,
We were out on Saturday too, I put the wrong date on the first post. Boat name Is the TinaLouise, The name is the same as the last boat, I decommissioned the name on the Robalo, The wifes name as always brought me luck and I hate to change a good thing. Tommys boat was NetProfit. I thought We heard you once on the radio. They were Snapping. Glad to hear you got into them too.
\ About the boat what can I say!! We could have opened it up but we tried to stay in its sweet spot which is around 3500rpms with a fuel burn of around 15-16gph. Love the boat period. The large fishbox is the heat you cant miss it when you bring one over the side. We didnt even have it half full at the end of the trip. I am very impressed with the ride, economy and functionabiltyof this boat.

I am sorry I did not recognize your voice, as I heard you talking all day. Without you two the radio would have been silent, as I was amazed of lack of radio talk on Saturday. However, when the fish are snapping like that all you have time to do is bait the hooks.
Now that's a nice Mahi. Great job Mark. You gotta love the days whan there isn't time between bites to get all you lines rigged and in the water. That Contender looks great.
Jawbreaker,
Next time I head out I will shoot you a PM and maybe we can fish together. I want to get Matt down for a trip.

Yes I was very happy with the fuel burn. I tried to stay around 3400-3500rpms for cruise. 32-36mph. Really happy with the performance. I really wanted to pin the throttles but didnt do it.
Goodstuff,
Thanks for the compliment on the boat. The ride is much better than I thought it would be.
Gus,
Hopefully we can get together and do a little fishing soon.
Headhunt,
They were snapping all right Im glad you and your girls got into the fish at Hatteras. Hopefully I will make it up that way soon.
Great trip. Nice boat. Is that the 31? Glad to see you keeping Tommy in line (-:
We fished live bait and ballyhoo 30nm out of WB. Had a great day. Kept 3 macs and 2 mahi. Released more including some amberjacks in the 40s. What a nice ride in. Perfect conditions.
troll,
The boat is a 25open LOA 28ft. I heard the AJs were pretty thick just about everywhere now. We stopped at the Horseshoe on the way out and Tommy and Hal stopped at the Sharkhole but when it is as nice as it was Saturday we just felt like it was the day to make the run. Glad we did. I heard they did well at the BlackJack and the Steeples as well. I did talk to a friend that said they had a few Billfish take a look at their spread. Mark
