Well, it totally depends on the tide. We have 6' at high tide, 2' at low tide. On the really high tides, the water is 8" from the flooring and you have to roll your pant legs to walk to the street down the driveway.
From the pier, it's premier kid fishing, doubles every cast with pinfish, croakers and the occasional little drum. Only at half tide rising or better. In the fall the adults can enjoy some drum in the 1-2# range. Unless you are in competition with the kids in a heated contest, then even the adults are happy with a 4 oz pinfish
