Random Quote: IF I KNEW RETIREMENT WAS THIS ENJOYABLE,,I WOULD NOT HAVE WORKED FOR A LIVING
Well, I didn't think I was gonna' make this one, as the cold/flu had gotten the best of me for a week or so, but I felt better and the weather wasn't so cold.
This show has about 40 dealers/60 boat brands (per advertisement), but nowhere near the boats of the one NEXT month. Still interesting to see what's out there - not a lot of changes (at least at this show).
ALL of the Sea Pro's had them "black things" on the back, Sea Hunt (Ed's) didn't have the new "26" there (the one they got in sold VERY quickly!), Key West (Garrett's Marina) had the new "176CC" (pics below) and that's a NICE/BIG boat for a "17" - about $19,995 w/90 Yama 4-stroke AND trailer!
One of the highlights, to me, was the Southport "26" - VERY nice and about $112,000 "boat show price" as shown in the below pics - which I thought sounded pretty good w/250 Verandos and rigged the way it was! Salesguy said ti would WOT about "55"!
The boats are so "packed" in this place, it' was hard to get a good shot of most of them.
Here we go - not anything earth-shattering, but thought you might enjoy.
I am seriously in love with the Southport. I do wish they had not messed her up by writing "Denver Broncos" along the side of her. Can you get Yamaha's on her? I bet the 28' express will be amazing when she comes out.
Great minds think alike. I posted my SP 26 pics on your other thread. You are a much better photographer than I. You got some exterior pics too.
I asked about the enclosure. It has sail tracks for the wings under the T top and can be fastened out to the gunnel or back against the console while fishing. Can also enclose the whole deal around the L post with different enclosure. I (family) still need a WA/express though.
I was confused with the Broncos thing too. I thought it was a sold boat owned by a whacked fan. No, just the dealer trying to tie in the boats with the playoffs. They had a Steelers yellow and black ski boat next to this one.
Why are the deck fish rod holders so close together? Three of them, but not one near the stern.
What about the "polyethylene fuel cell-encased in fiberglass" on both the 26 and 28 SP? I am surprised the tanks are not aluminum or SS, and I don't recall seeing hatches over the tanks either. Looks like you need a saw to remove them, hence the plastic tanks that are supposed to last the life of the boat.
Are these poly tanks baffled? With a capacity of 204/250 I hope so.
Go Bronco's well that would rule that boat out
Question for all the South port fans when drifting in a 10knt breeze what is the attitude of this hull ie beam to, quartering, stern to ? thanks

The boat drifts pretty well, this was one of the tests I tried, when testing, and it was no problem. This was in a solid 2 foot chop.

Doesn't really matter. Between the lack of cockpit space and that cramped forward seating/front of console seat arrangement, that boat is not designed for fishing anyway.
Where exactly was this boat show that you went to as in what city. I'm just trying to make sure that I didn't miss the Virginia Beach boat show.
Thanks,
Brandon
P.S.- I'll try and get some picture of the virginia beach boat show if I haven't already missed it.
This show was in Richmond - at "The Showplace", on Mechanicsville Turnpike.
This one and the Richmond Boat Show (2/16-2/19) are "Royal Productions" shows - not sure about the one in VA Beach (doesn't "show" on the Royal website, but I'm sure there IS one - maybe put on by a different company?). The VA Beach show has, in previous years, been AFTER the Richmond Boat Show.
There IS one listed in HAMPTON on Royal's site - the Tidewater Boat Show (3/17-3/19), at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.
The Richmond Boat Show is a BIG one - at the RIC Complex! 5-6 BUILDINGS of boats, and EVERYONE that's in the business uswually attends/shows!
Just bought a 26 Southport CC in September... have it stored indoors on a trailer so have been able to use it a bit this winter.
The Southport is by far the best boat i have of its size that I have ever been on. I'm no expert... but this thing is a tank in the water... very response and very dry. Lots of great ammenities too.
If you are in the market for a new boat, I highly recommend Southport.
Re: the Sea Hunt 26. I went to the Houston boat show about two weeks ago and they had one of them there. I was under the impression that they were not the best boats, but this was a very nice looking boat with one hell of a nice bow flair. I do have a picture of the flair, but I need to get it off my camera. That is on my list of things to do today. Anyway, thanks for the pictures.
