Mangroves from GITR 05' Here are my dad and younger brother with a couple of large mangroves from Saturday 7-30 caught out of Fourchon. These two weighted right around 10#'s. My dad won second place in the Mangrove division of the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo with a 11 pound 11 ounce fish. My dad has been fishing the GITR for 20+ years and it is his first time to place. Back when I was a kid we would fish for Tarpon in "Lil' Pass". We never were successful in putting one on the board. The past 10 years or so we just fished with no target. This year a specific target was picked, mangrove snapper. They boated many fish over between 8-10#'s. All fish were taken with live croakers.
I was stuck at work and wish I could have taken part in the wonderful trip. Oh well I will be there next year!
