My dad have been fishing together out of the same 17' canoe for the past 20 years+. He has always wanted to buy a boat, but never really needed too. Would just hop on a friends boat for whatever type of fishing they felt like doing. Well, the other day, we took out our new boat for the first time...together. It was a nice experience. I never would have guessed it. I can't stand the man most of the time , but out there, we get a long just fine.

Great post - last time I saw my Dad was in my small Duranautic last Oct. A couple of weeks later he died. Thank God for that last great memory. I always wanted to buy a larger boat but was waiting. I had told him in a few years I would have a 24 fter. Jokingly he said he would be dead by then. I didn't wait a few years but purchased one over the winter, life is too short. Every time I get on the boat I picture him with me.

Enjoy

my dad on our first trip in a boat rented a rowboat in the back of MT.SINAI harbor n.y.the current was so strong against us that my father couldn't over power it and we basically went where the current wanted to take us.we flipped the anchor over the side to at least keep us out of the marsh area.we put our lines over the side and i guess the Gods smiled down on dad because he was really trying and we caught fluke right ther 20-25 ft from the dock in an anchored boat.luckily the current slacked off so we were able to get back to the dock.great memory pop and i were really close.i've been taking my guys out since they were about six but never with oars
