Default Ready to start the bottom work

Got the boat on blocks with the trailer still in place yet enough room to work.

You better do a better job of blocking that boat!! Right away!

I've seen boats fall off a "less-than-appropiate" blocking job. It ain't pretty when it happens. And those were better that what I see in the pictures! I'm not trying to break your balls. Just trying to save your life.

I have seen similar in areas many times. That sure doesn't make it right. I worked blocking boats in HighSchool (yea years ago). If we were caught blocking like that we would have been fired. There is certainly a chance nothing will happen as well, but crap it doesn't take much to do it right.

Go get some railroad ties, or 10x10 landscaping timbers cut them into 24" lengths and block it up by going back and forth, two / layer.

C'mon brother. Get some stands and save your neck and your boat. I don't want to read a RIP - baypro

It does have a release valve in the trim pump so that the drive will kick up when you hit a submerged object so I wouldn't be very confident in the drive saving you. Wood blocks would be a better choice IMHO.

I sanded for 9 hours yesterday and got about 2/3 of the bottom paint off. That job sucks. Original plan was to get up this am and finish. I was laying in bed resting and aching and decided my body needs more rest than that. I was thinking I might use my checkbook to finish the job but after a nights rest and reconsidering I will just go ahead and do it myself (in a few days). I've come this far. The good news is the 31yo bottom is in extremely good shape.

If it gets overwhelming or too physically demanding, step back and plan the work over time. Decide how much and what parts you want to do in time stages and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish on your own. Work quality will be much better too. I oversee major jobs that look daunting to say the least but managed correctly, they come around on time every time short of an occasional unavoidable problem.

Yep, I know this is very good advice, especially for an old guy like me (not 50 yet though).

What are your plans for the bottom? I have been there and feel your pain. I knew I was going to redo bottom with VC Performance, therefore I used more aggressive grit to remove my layers of paint than those that have restored gel coat.

My bottom paint needs to be stripped off and redone. I am dreading that day! I will probably pay to have it done.

That is not a bad idea at all. If I was only 50% done I'm pretty sure I would pay for the rest. At this point I'm just gunna rest a day or 2, bite the bullet, and finish it.

A few coats of Interprotect 2000 and a few coats of VC Performance Epoxy.

They sure are proud of that stuff. I hope it's as good as Interlux thinks it is. It's going to look a lot better and I'm hoping for a mph or 2 gain at cruise, that would be a nice bonus. As rough and flakey as it is it has to be causing some drag.

Got some of these so now I won't have anymore black streaks. I'll have yellow - No, these are supposed to be non marring. 64 @ $7 each.
