Random Quote: Some Hatteras owners don't like Grey Poupon.
Does anyone know if they would build something similar in a 21'? Some of the other builders I have talked to won't build one that small. 25' just seems absurd to me for a bay boat - might as well get a deep-v boat for the open water, but I guess it would be the ultimate for a guide. I just want a something that can be pushed with 150-200 and is easily trailerable without a mack truck.

Why not a Pacific 20'? 14 degree bottom, take up to a 150hp motor.
I know this is an older thread, but I have a question about the build. I read somewhere in the thread that the console was aluminum. Are the top side, hatch covers and deck fabricated from aluminum as well or do they bond fiberglass to the aluminum hull?

Everything is built out of aluminum. No glass anywere. These boats are built to last 5 life times, but do have a high price tag.
Mac, the old Gravois shop is only about 20 min down the road (the new AAM shop is a bit further from what I have read) and Gravois builds prettier boats than Pacific IMO, but I don't think you could go wrong either way except that I might have to drive a few thousand miles to get a Pacific. Pacific builds a really great boat though.
There is another builder in Erath (Leblanc) that builds boats just as nice as Gravois believe it or not. I got to compare one of theirs and a Gravois on the same day. Their waiting list was a year whereas Gravois was 6 months. Of course that was right before Gravois stopped building fishing boats and even when I heard talk of them starting back up on fishing boats, it did not sound like they were going to build small boats any more. Gaudet also builds a really nice 22 but I did not really want to go that big.
The boat I fish the marsh in is plate aluminum and 35 years old (Dugas) but barely broken in despite being used in salt water all those years. The first maintenance performed on it in those 35 years was a couple weeks ago we had a new bow eye welded on because the steel winch hook had chewed up the aluminum. My other boat is a 38 year old project boat (fiberglass) that I have been working on for 4 years that is really making me wonder why I would want a fiberglass boat.
The fourth pic shows aluminum pieces spot welded at the very front and long ones on the side at the rear. They are not on the finished boat. What are they for?
That is one awesome boat.

HAHA... A Gravois hull.... My dad's friend owns an offshore Gravois hull boat that i fished on... indistructable... lilerally, the last boat you'll own if you just do minimum maintenance... THIS boat is beautiful... can fish the reefs, and hit the rigs... great job.. thanks for the pics...
That is a beautiful boat. Not trying to derail the thread but if these guys aren't building 36 footers Clint gaudet will build one. This is the link of the 36 he built for us.

Those are backing so that the plate does not warp while welding on the interior of the hull, notice that there is also some towards the stern, about the inboard level of the floor.
