Sorry John, yes on the gunwale rod holders we screw those in. I was talking about the ones that have the rubber grommets in the actual rod locker. Sorry about that. On the rod holders we feel that there usually is not enough actual pulling to make the screws come out. We have not had any problems yet with this method. Every screw nut and bolt we use is 316 SS.

The limit in Oregon is 8'6". It was my understanding that that is kind of the universal US maximum for not requiring a permit... If the boat's staying local then hey, that's why you buy a custom

Man those are some tight law's! I am glad what it is in Florida. Have you guys heard or seen if they uphold the laws in the stated states? I think you have to go over the limit pretty good for them to think about it. But hey that is just my thinking, I am probably wrong.
