Awesome pics man!! Been there once for a week myself. My wife and I had a great time. Exactly 9 months later my little one was born. We took a day and visited Pearl Harbor, and the Missouri as well. Thats one day I'll never forget. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Nice shots!!
Pearl Harbor deeply affected me. Quite overwhelming.
A couple of years ago my family and I tool a vacation there. Beautiful.
I posted some shots on my website: www.raylackaye.com
The flight there and back was terrible - 9 hours. I would upgrade to first class if at all possible.
I would definitely recommend the Kila Kila for a charter although they are out of Kona. The flights between islands are pretty cheap and, best of all, quick.

Pearl Harbor:
We went on the tour with an active duty military person because they get a special tour. They take you around Ford Island and they limit it to 30 people so you don't have to wait in line. I heard it takes an entire day if you take the "normal" tour.
When on Oahu I would go to Ko 'Olina at the end of the island. There was a beautiful beach and resorts by there that looked really nice. We stayed with a friend on Oahu so I can't speak to the hotels or resorts. Golf looked really nice there.
Waikiki can be seen in one day. Any more was too much for me. The Disney World of Hawaii.
Be sure to get some shrimp from a shrimp truck. Excellent. All the seafood I ate was wonderful. I ate more mahi mahi than I did in my whole life. The fruit was great too.
A few things you need to be prepared for: prices and traffic. Everything is pretty pricey there. It's hard to go out for an inexpensive lunch/dinner. It takes an enormous amount of time to get anywhere. It seemed like all of the roads had a speed limit of 25. There is only 3 freeways there and they're super congested. To get to the other side of the island took over 2.5 hours (40 miles).
If you go to Kona (Big Island) the Fairmont Orchid was super nice and fairly reasonable for the room. There's a grocery store next to it so you can get some food and you don't have to pay the crazy resort prices.
Agree with Bulls about prices BUT if you avoid the touristy spots and go wit the locals you'll do a lot better and have more fun and better food too.
We were lucky enough to be in San Francisco out on Pier 41 watching the fleet come in during "Fleet Week" back in the early 90's and - lo and behold came the USS Missouri out of the fog from under the Golden Gate on her last voyage as an active duty vessel! What a beautiful ship! There was always something about those battleships that was SO inspiring.
We had the privilege of being on the Arizona memorial on a Hawaii trip, and it is truly amazing - if can stand in front of the marble wall with the list of names that lost their lives that day and not get a tear forming then you need to check your pulse.
The thing that amazed me the most was the survivors of the Arizona that have come back and were laid to rest there. Something I would have never though of. Truly impressive.
Just moved back to Charleston after spending 3 years there. Man do I miss it. Perfect weather just about every day and eventually you get used to the traffic.

If in Hawaii, Kona is by far the best of the best to jump on a charter. Call the charter desk and book a trip. Their crews are professional and the rates are cheap compared to other big game destinations. I have fished the Northern Lights with Kevin Nakamura. The only captain to catch Granders in three oceans. Early summer is very good for Blue Marlin and Tuna.
Thanks for sharing the pictures. We went about 5 years ago. Spent 4 days on Oahu and 4 on Kauai. We were on the fence about going to Pearl Harbor but man are we glad we did. It was an incredibly moving experience.
Look up THT member Poipu. He posted on a thread about B&B's on Kauai and evidently he owns a small motel on the island. Could be a great source and a classic THT hookup.

Great pics. The ones of Pearl Harbor brought back chilling memories. Definitely a sight I will never forget, as with the feelings I had while there.
The sea turtles also bring back some memories. I remembering snorkeling on the Kona side of the Big Island and one of those bastards snuck up behind me. Scared the crap out of me.
Fishing pics ring a bell as well. 2nd time I ever went trolling was on a 31 Bertram in Maui. Caught my 1st and only mahi mahi there
Yes, 1st class is a must. 11 hours from here. Flew 1st class going out and coach coming back. The extra money will be some of the best money you ever spent. Its a completely different world in 1st class
