This is Madison my brothers dog, she is getting up there now but refuses to slow down. The minute she sees water she runs like crazy and limps for two days.

This was last summer at montauk, the docks drive her crazy because all she wants to do is swim.

Yep... water all over the floor all the time. Also, when I give him a Milk Bone biscuit he takes it in his mouth and runs off to his favorite spot to eat it..... drool streaming out both sides of his mouth an onto the floor the whole way. It's gross... but I wouldn't have it any other way.... I love my Lab!

I know what you mean.... Jack's specialty is sneaking up on the couch for a nap and being so damn cute about it that I don't have the heart to wake him up and kick him off...... He could also wake the dead with his snoring

Mine likes those but they have to be thawed out almost to liquid for him to eat them.

Here's Cooper. He is equally comfortable/happy whether it be in the duck blind or the bow of the whaler

Do you all cut their nails or do you pay to have it done? I HATE cutting his nails and will do anything and pay any amount to have someone else do it! Jack's nails grow so fast... they become like claws...... I hate the clippers (more than he does). I have the quik stop to stop the bleeding if I cut too short... but I just HATE HATE HATE clipping his nails.

What do you all do about their nails and how often to you have to do it?

I'm partial to blacks obviously and Cooper is a beauty.

Savannah licks the Frosty Paws right out of the container until empty.

We take her to our vet to trim her nails. She didn't need it for years because she wore them down but the last few years we have to cut them.

This pic is from a while ago up in a place called Ft. George. All the labs on the platform of my boat at the time.

I've always cut our dog's nails. I start them when they are pups, so it isn't quite the battle. The real trick is to make sure their nails are really soft. Do it after they've been swimming all morning or after you give them a bath. The other trick is to make sure blade on your cutter is really sharp. I bought a super fine round diamond sharpener and run it over the cutting blade a few times prior to starting. I agree though, I hate the clippers and feel horrible when I nick him and the blood starts.

Dont laugh but I got one of the Pet - icure tools online. Basically a dremel drum sander with a catch guard. No bleeding nails or yelping. It also finishes the nails nice and round. Other than the fact that she hates the sound (takes a box of treats to complete the job) it is an awsome tool, worth every cent.

My dad had a friend years ago that used to use his dremel tool with a fine stone on it. His dogs loved it!! If I broke out the dremel tool, my dog would head for the next county! I always wanted to give that pet trimmer/grinder a try.
