As some of ya'll remenber back in June,My Lab,Missy Leu Von Bell was hit by a car. She took the full hit to the head. Well,as of now,she made one hell of a recover. She is about 95% now and as my daughter told me it might take as long as a year or so. In the first picture, this was after a week at the vets office. She wasn't able to stand or walk. So I had made this cradle to get her off the floor.

It worded out real good. Over a couple weeks, she was able to pick up her head. All that time, she had to be waited on hand and foot.

As of yesterday, she is one happy pup almost ready to hunt again. At the end of last duck season, she was just getting it down right being she is only 1.8 years old. Sofar this year,I haven't been able to work her to much, only in the last month. Duck hunting opens next weekend and we will see if she is able to hunt again.

That sucks but glad she recovered! what sort of injuries did she get? My dog got bloat in June, but after some emergency surgery has recovered, but I haven't started working him hard again yet

THAT is one great story of care and recovery, prockvoan! Fine looking creature you have there, Sir. Congrats to you and your family for nursing Missy back to health.

you sure it wasn't intentional? Right up until her last days, I'd have to bring Andi down to the docks in a cart. However, she had no problem breaking into a sprint when her buddies were around. Saw the lab at Coinjock last year, I think her name is Rudder. or maybe thats the dachsund. anyway, they'd would walk the dock greeting all the transients, lab barely moving. throw a ball and see ya later!

glad she made a great recovery!

This is Savannah. She is about to turn 13. She won't be here much longer. She has a hard time walking, bad hips of course. She has been a joy to us and we are sad to see her deteriorate. She was purchased by someone who abused her and skipped town, tieing Savannah to a tree to die. When she was found, they thought she was dead so they dug a grave. When they picked her up, she opened her eyes. After a month at the vet, we got her. We think we gave her a good life and she returned it and more. She was absolutely beautiful when younger. Now she is gray and walks very slow and a little unsteady.

Here she is talking to a manatee.

Hanging out by the pool.

Waiting for papa to get home from fishing.

Trying to watch TV but she is between the TV and me.

Relaxing on the dock

nice puppies PatO. mine had 9 way back, it was fun. Here's Andi after one of her workouts. Can you believe the rental car co. tried to stick me with a cleaning charge? I said, you knew i was going to the beach with a dog. they replied with 'oh, yeah nevermind'.

Jags, have you tried Glucosomine for her hips? Worked wonders on my last Lab with similar issues. After about two weeks on the stuff she was like a puppy, chasing balls and anything else on 4 legs (lizards, cats, squirrels, etc.) I believe it extended her life by another year or so and she had a pretty decent time of it. Good luck.
