In the sleepy town of Deltaville, VA, you don't see a lot of "go-fast"-type stuff pullin' in the creek.
The Bay was PERFECT Sunday - I rode down (without the boat! ) JUST to enjoy the weather from the dock!
Was out at the end of the fuel dock and caught this Cigarette headed over towards the ramp, so I walked over for a look-see. It's a "39 Top Gun Unlimited" - twin 525's and a LOT of boat for the little, often difficult-to-load, drop-off at the end of the ramp they have. I've even had probs with my 17.5 footer before!
It proved to be about a 1/2HR. "load", as they tried to get that thing EVEN on the trailer bunks + trying to get the bow up HIGH enough for the winch cable - which POPPED when it was about a foot from the bow stop! Ended up using a chain to haul it up!
New-to-the-boat guy who did a GREAT job at the helm - it's a LOT of boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, about $350K worth, I was told!
Take a peek at the tow for that monster - looks to be a little "light" in the pulling department?
Pis are a little "blurry" (I enlarged them a tad).
I spent a good amount of time in Urbanna years ago, and I remember Deltaville well.
There were not any boats like that when I was there.
It was all sailboats and sportfishermens.
I have always loved those Cigarette's. Beautiful boats.
The f-250 does look small, but I am sure its plenty of truck for the job, specially with the 5th wheel on the trailer. Not much different then pulling a 40' travel trailer.

Got to see a couple of these a few years ago, in September, at Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park. Guys had been at Flathead Lake in Montana and stopped at Jackson Lake to take a spin and look at the scenery. The lake was low and when they backed the trailer down, their back wheels dropped into the gravel at the end of the ramp. Did I say the lake was low? Turned out the truck, a Ford 3/4 ton didn't have 4-wheel drive and couldn't get up the ramp. So, I went and got my little GMC 3/4 4-wheel drive and helped them get up the ramp. Wife was in the water in our boat, but apparently didn't think enough of the project to take any pictures. I figured we could make a lot of money showing a GMC towing a Ford out of the water.
I think it's perfectly ok to tow that boat with the truck they have, if you notice, it has a gooseneck on it, which allows for a little more towing capacity I believe than the usual hitch.

Bunch of those guys on Lake Michigan in the Summer. Love to hear them coming up the lake and watch them go past, but hate to hear them "cruising" the marina at night.
Beautiful boats though. Lots of cash just to carve trails in the water.
that has to be one of the baddest trailers i have ever seen.....boat aint to shabby either.

No, they haven't. Water hasn't been that low since that trip and they would have to have the water lower to extend the ramp. We actually dropped off the ramp with our rear wheels as well, but with the 4-wheel drive it was no problem. When the water is real low, the ramp is about 100-150' long before getting to the water. When the lake is full, the ramp is about 10' long. Fortunately, it's a lake and we don't have tides.

Still pretty much the same - not many REAL "sportfishermans", per se, but a real "mix" of everything. Plenty of sails, though.
I was down all weekend...at Urbanna from Thursday to Sunday a.m. On many boats in the creek, but never got mine wet. Took an RV to town and had a few bivalves and beers. Would have guessed this guy with the top gun made a trip there as well.
I used to take boats to the festival, but the marine patrol are almost as bad as the state police now.
You ever check out the restored buyboats? The Propwash is an incredible boat. Where 3 of them on display.
This nor'easter blowing through is going to make a mess for the coming weekend.
