Awesome pics. What is Homestead now days?? My dad was a wing commander and then a base commander down there in the early 60's, (I was in kindergarten) durng the late B-47 days. He oversaw the rebuilding of the runways to be able to handle B-52's. To this day I remember those pours being like 4 feet thick. After Andrew when they were talking about turning it over to civilians he was really disappointed and talked about how nobody mentioned the runways and the hardened bunkers for nuke storage. Of course I guess it was a TAC base at the end. Sorry, an ACC base.
