I was gonna stay out of this cause i couldn't find the album i had the pics in. Since the thread is still alive thought i would throw these two in. These two pics are about 8-10 miles off Haulover about ten or so years ago and taken with a Kodak 110 pocket camera if anyone can even remember what they looked like. The camera that was on the boat for about a year. We weren't even sure the camera worked
The wake isn't real bad when they are just passing by, but when they are surfacing it is really bad.
I live in Norfolk Va. and we see them all the time coming and going. If they have any speed at all they throw a nasty 8 to 9 foot waves that are steep and close together. Its very rare that they run very fast when they are in the bay because of this. Sense 9/11 they are all escorted by the
C/G when in the bay and your made to keep a long distance from them.

Here's a pic of a nuclear sub that escorted our ferry out of New London Harbor a couple of years ago. We were side-by-side for about 5 miles as we exited the river. If you zoom into the conning tower, you'll glimpse the $1500 Raytheon Radar that's used to navigate this multibillion dollar sub...
