Have been watching both you guys and tar build these boats and you are doing a fantastic job. I am thinking about a 26' center console/inboard. My main concern is how do these boats hold-up in the northeast ? you know the expansion/contraction thing with the cold of winter and the heat of summer.

They are used all over the Northeast and hold up well if built correctly, contact Marc at cb-boatworks.com he'll set you up with a 26 inboard, no problem. He's about to be working on my 27 outboard....

Donnie,

from what i understand the rails were supposed to be mahogany.. but it looks like you used fir.. any reason? do you plan on glassing in the chine rails to compensate for the fir vs. mahogany?.... also.. what stock did you start with?.. rip to?

looks great!,

Looking good man! What material did you use for your toe rail? Almost looks like Flex Moulding.

Isn't the toe rail supposed to be higher than the rub rail? Do you have any side view pics of the boat?

Beautiful work! I didn't read every post so please forgive my ignorance. With all the fiberglass boat builders getting away from using wood for coring such as stringers and transoms due to future rot how do you guys protect all that wood?

Is every last centimeter of wood encapsulated? Even then I guess you have to be very careful huh?

Also.....love the use of the bracket for the engine, you really get to use every inch of space in the boat that way. I think a 35 footer with a bracket and twin 300s would be sweet.

Parrott - You guys are doing an awesome job on those boats! I am very much enjoying watching the progress. Keep the updates and pics coming. Quick question - Are you able to design your own interior layout or is that already predetermined with the plans? Thanks and good luck.

Few simple question: How is the area under the deck ventilated and are the stringers fitted with weep holes?? i learned a long time ago building boats on HI that a high rate of ventilation is a must, we used vent boxes which we cut holes in the deck, built a rectangle box around the holes and extended the box up to under the gunnels with no top to allow hot air to escape. Also. Please tell me you didnt glass your rails on the outside. We found out very quickly to use juniper, use a bunch of SS screws and cabosil to fix the rails from the backside. Then fair and paint the juniper and maybe even a strip of SS to bling it up a little. If you glass it and hit a piling backng into a slip or whatever it cracks, holds water and looks like sh*t. You will have to repair this EVERY year and its a pain and time consuming to match the paint......think about it!! Very very good job through!!!

Also, just trying to help but the upper rail needs to be at least a foot longer to look right on the water, just looks about a foot short as is, and bumper rails should be juniper to absorb shock, and not rot. Maybe its just my eye but look at the 2nd pic on post 224 and see if they dont look a little too close in length??? Again constructive criticism, very very pretty work

Beautiful job you guys are doing on both boats! Someday, I'll build on from scratch. Quick question, what are you using to make the nice radius in the resin where the floor meets the sides of the boat?
