i'm not sure. i know our water may not be as pretty as some places but pictures like these show the coast that most of us know and love. and its a beautiful sight.
This photo was picked as a photo contest winner in South Mississippi Living Magazine. Kinda weird the way they cropped it. I wonder if that was a printing error, or if they just did that to fit it in..............
Great shots Jason!
If you are interested in shooting the gulf coast, you should plan a trip to Pensacola and hit Ft Pickens (if you haven't already), among other areas. The road to Ft Pickens is now open so you can drive out to it. Pensacola Pass is a great location as well. Ft Pickens overlooks it (see shots below).
With your eye/ability, I think you could get some great shots at the Fort due to the brickwork and architectural style.
Afternoon/evening shots around Pns beach/fishing pier would be a good location also.
Wow, nice! I'd like to brink my kayak over there, bet I could get some nic dolphin shots. The dolphin shot, was it inshore?
The dolphin shot was about 1 mile past the palm tree in the 2nd photo. That's my daughter and friend sitting under tree. We had the whole beach to ourselves. The boat was anchored to the left of photo.
The 2nd photo was taken looking across Pns Pass at Ft Pickens looking east to west with Orange Beach,AL condos in the distance.
We had just left the beach in the boat and the dolphin arrived looking for a free meal (we did not oblige) and swam around us for about 5 minutes.
My daughter and her friend got a HUGE kick out of it.

Reason: add pic
Cool thanks for the info. We've been wanting to go to Destin with the kayaks or waverunners, but that looks like an even better spot (less crowded). I may be getting back in touch with you for more info regarding directions and accomodations.
Crab Island in Destin is a good choice but usually crowded.
Water is almost allways emerald. Pns bch is best with a slight north wind to lay seas.
The pass area can get murky as it handles quite a bit of flow from ICW, Pns bay, Escambia bay. Let me know when you will be coming down and I'll rec accomodations.
