my point is that every time someone new puts up a thread that may contain something that has an advertisement he gets blasted..

Maybe a better approach would be to educate them about the site and they may then pay to advertise there product..

If i where the guy after getting beat up over his first post I would look to another source to sell my product..

I am on a lot of forums, and appreciate the fact that they are free to me. It enables me to obtain knowledge on something that interests me. Now the reason they are free is that advertisers pay to target me based on these interests. I don't feel it right for someone to come under the guise of a member, and to promote their product without being a paid advertiser. This is an example of a company that I will not do business with. I am in business for myself, and I certainly don't expect free advertisement from someone. Besides isn't that what craigslist is for???

If one of you guys came up with it you would have done the same..

This site is going to sH!t

Wrong. If you were a paid advertiser you would be PISSED.

Great product/Shots but that is beside the point.

I understand your point, however from what I've seen these are not people looking to be a member of the forum... they are "one hit posters" who simply drop their ad in a post and never return. IMO....not really fair to those who pay to advertise.

While this site is free to members, it costs money to run. Therefore the owner sets the rules and the rules clearly state:

Ads are allowed ONLY in the Trading Dock and as paid advertising in banners and Vendor Forums.

Are you saying none of us should pay any attention to any of the rules our host has laid out? Or perhaps we should just pick and chose the ones we want to abide by???? I don't really see it as people "policing" the internet.... simply calling it like it is.

Now I'm off to find my credit card and pay my part to support the site.... lest I be seen as a free loader too

That's right, we don't need rules to go by, everything should be free, so what if THT is a business, so what if it has rules, who cares about integrity. All of us should just mind our own business and not get involved when others are taking advantage the same rules we all go by.

Too bad, I won't be quiet, I'll always call out those that are willing to take advantage of others, I'll always point out unethical behavior, I'll always teach my children right from wrong. Wrong is wrong and if you can't tell the difference then you're going to have a miserable and lonely life.

I paid to be a member of this boating/social networking forum so I DO have an interest in it continuing and prospering, it does effect me.

Sorry to all for being so blunt but I'm just so sick of this screw the rules-take advantage of others attitude. I'm sure my reaction is a build up of other outside factors so I won't go political but I sure could draw some parallels.

So let me get this straight..... posters are criticizing the OP for posting against the forum's positing rules. You don't like posters "policing" the OP, so you decide to post criticizing these posters (thereby policing them).

Congratulations....

ETA: I'm not saying you shouldn't post your criticism.... just making an observation

Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. There are too many people who think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's wrong is to get caught.

historically, the reason THT has been so gently moderated is that for the most part, the members police themselves...

raise your hand if you'd prefer the alternative

Not all Luhrs suck, just the 41 footer that was bashed around here.

Maybe the reason that 41 Luhrs had so many problems is because the owner put so many of these $350 lights around his dock that the swarms of baitfish damaged the hull!

Well, Tinkerbell, I guess if it's good to give your opinion/take on a subject, it's better to do it seven times, right? Just to make sure us bozos get it? Sheeesh....(maybe I went to a different old school.)

We got "aholes," "stupid," "shutup," "get a fuxxing clue and life" and then you remind us not to be nasty? For a grand finale, then there's this: "i cant argue with a women its a lose lose situation.."

Look, you just found us a couple of months ago. Couldn't you just pretend you never did (since we all piss you off so severely?) Yeah, I know. Fat chance. You and your attitude are no doubt here to stay.
