I've been impressed with the build pics posted on THT, and even more impressed with the information that everyone shares. So i've decided to unveil my little project. I have the hull mold, and i'm designing a new deck. This is the plug and i will hopefully be ready to pull a mold by summertime.
I wanted to make something for everyone, and i think this boat will do just that. Floats in a foot of water, and is stable and reliable enough to take offshore. I think wives would enjoy the ride. Would make a great dive boat too!
19' Tibona CC
90 Gal Fuel
Oversized console
Large front fishbox
Leaning post w/ livewell
Going to be rigged for twin outboards on custom brackets
She's located in SRQ, if anyone is interested in dropping by....let me know!
That boat looks kicking my brother....WIDE in this case is better!! Wish I lived closer to help with the build...That going to be one fine riding machine...Keep us posted!! John

"There's never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over"
I have folowed this build in Sarasota. Dan is doing a great job and is going to have a great Cat especially with the twin engine set up. With Twin Vee and Procat gone he will have a great alternative. He is really detail oriented and deserves a look from anyone in the market.
Here are a few more pics from today. I've been working on deckplate cutouts for fuel tank access and bilge access. I'm gonna make fiberglass pie-eyes for all of the access holes. Should blend right in with no screw heads showing.
Also got the fishbox hatch reciever shown. I made 1 degree jigs for bondo-ing.
some of the latest pics. the bow deck area has about 2 gallons of bondo on it, but i finally got the chamfer i was looking for. got the anchor locker dialed in. the brow is on. i moved the fuel fills back. and i'm getting ready for filling radius' and a new flange for the outside of the plug.
hopefully i can sell this one before i have to spend the $ on motors, but if i had it my way......and the wife doesn't get too pissed at me for spending the money.....i will put suzuki 4-stroke 60's on her. yamaha 2-stroke's would be a bit lighter but only by a combined 200 lbs. i am trying to make it an efficient boat. when i water tested, i had 500lbs on the transom and the draft was 11".
it's just b/c plywood. this is not going to be what the boat is made of, it's just the plug. i will get it nice and primed pretty, wax it up, and pull my deck mold off of it. that way i can build more than one boat hopefully. there will be NO WOOD in this boat. the hull is cored with coremat, plascore, and 20lb composite transom. the deck will prob be cored with the same material.
i built a wooden plug for the anchor locker and pulled that part off of it. i cut out a hole and screwed the anchor locker part in, integrating it in with some bondo.
unsure where the hull mold came from. the guy i bought the mold from said it was the Seagull 19 hull. i heard great things about the hull before i bought it. someone had maintained the mold and buffed it several times, all i had to do was wax it a couple times and she pulled right out.
how do you get the nonskid in the plug for the floors? Is it sold on rolls? Its going to be a sweet looking cat. How Big a livewell you think the leaning post can be?

34 Yellowfin with trip f250 Yamahas FOR SALE
I have been watching this boat come along. I think it is actually going to be one of the few good all around boats. Good for the family at the sand bar, great fishing the bay and the offshore, or anchoring up on a reef and doing some diving. Really just sturdy with no compromise.
i will shoot the nonskid right onto the plug with an undercoater gun. it will be very similar to the non-skid of your YF, tunatango. it keeps it looking like a custom boat, not a huge fan of the production-style checkerboard nonskid. it's also easier to fix if i need to make adjustments to the deck down the road.
the fishbox is 6' long almost beam's width, with a 4' hatch opening to it in front. i haven't started work on the rocket launcher yet, but i am shooting for a 30-40 gal livewell in that. any suggestions on that one?
i am going to offer the boat custom, built specifically to any one's needs. i think the boat, twin screws, t-top, trailer package will be in the $45K range. anything is possible i guess.
I would like to make a suggestion. Intead of making a "OVERSIZED" console make a skinny tall one. One with PLENTY room to walk on each size. A console that doesn't have walk in head and doesn't take up valuable space in a 19' boat!!!!! Don't be a cookie cutter going with the head in the console thing. It's a crummy idea in my opinion. If you must make a big console also make a small console an option to us fish guys.
good idea. i could always just do away with the console and put a medium sized tower at about eye level......?? maybe even a suspended helm station like the smaller Andros.
i would love to make them all different. but i think when people see the console, they are gonna want it.

Relieved me to read this, cause as I had looked at those pix the sponson exteriors, especially the knife of the entries, looks EXACTLY like my Seagull. I thought, Dan is really re-inventing the wheel here. So at least I'm not losing it. I have been super happy with the performance and ride of my Seagull. As you know, they were a single, and mine has a 90. I gather that about 75-80 percent of the originals had Honda 90's, and the rest had 115 to 150's.
I have always been told that the Seagull molds went first to Leader Cat and then to ProKat, but I suppose there may have been more than one, or at some point someone may have run off another.
