Just flipping through some of the pics, especially the ones of the boats actually running & I notice that so often skippers are looking BACK at their engines or wakes!!!!!!
WHY????
Are you expecting the engine to quit & maybe you can see right through the cowl to detect the problem? Are you expecting Flipper to jump out of your wake.
It is just a silly thing boaters, self included, do. We look at our wakes as we take off as if something will change from the last time. Why? We don't look behind as a light turns green.
I'm typically looking back for one of three reasons. One, to make sure I am lined up with the channel markers and in the channel. Two, to ensure that I am not being overtaken by another boat before making a change in course/speed. Three, checking the outboard to be sure its cooling.
