Building a 18' Custom Carolina in a single car garage (Very Tight)
I started this 18' custom Carolina hull on Nov.20 with setting up the jig. I have the jig set up and now I am waiting for all the materials to start arriving next Thursday Dec. 4. at that time I can start laying in the keel, stringers and chine logs. this will be a slow build since I am building by myself. I will post pictures as I go. Please excuse the cramped space, this is the only place I have until my 25' by 35' shop is built. Thanks for looking.

Very nice. Building a boat and great family memories.
Being cramped is always an issue. We have a custom 57' that has a small scratch on the helm....... Where they scratched it trying to get it out of the build barn. 57 was the biggest boat they could make otherwise the doors wouldnt close!
Keep us in the loop, and send some pictures, especially when the little ones start "helping" with the epoxy and paint!

You are wrong on the number of helpers. I have 3 of them ages 2 yrs,4 yrs and 7 yrs! this is one of the reasons I started on the hull before my shop is done because my kids love being apart of everything I do...... Thanks for the reply and I will keep the pictures coming.

Hey, you got two helpers already !
Seriously, I'm thrilled to see this as I was thinking of doing the same in a 1 car.
Anxious to see how you do with the space limitations.

Sweet!!!
More info though, did you purchase a complete kit less the labor?
Is the remainder of the materials going to come in shipments or one drop?
John
Hello John
CB Boatworks is the provider of this jig, We provide jigs for many different size Carolina hulls. with the jigs we sale the customer builds the base and supplies all the building materials for the base and Hull. we supply the CNC cut jigs and prints. for the hull I am building with my kids, I am buying all lumber and plywood from a local Lumber company. epoxy, glass, etc. are coming from a local vendor. Thanks for asking

Very cool looking little boat... what is the projected build cost?
Seatoad
At this time I can not give a material cost, I can tell you what I would charge to build one for a customer, you are looking at or around $2200.00 a foot for a builder to build one. hope this helps. Thanks
Re: Building a 18' Custom Carolina in a single car garage (Very Tight)
I have not done very much building on the 18' in the last two weeks, due to some of the material being back ordered. But I do have all the battens, shear clamp, keel and stringer material cut, and all the frames are taped. I have the first layers of the keel and stringers in place so I am ready to start laminating as soon as my epoxy shows up. I am also in the process of setting up a second jig, which I will build at the same time as the 18'. It is a 16' Carolina Flats boat. I am not sure if I should start a different thread, or just post here with the 18'? I have added a few pictures of the drawings and a jig drawing of the 16'. The jig pictures will come next week.
