*THE HULL TRUTH is the world's largest FREE network for the discussion of Boating & Fishing. Whether you're researching a new boat, or are a seasoned Captain, you'll find The Hull Truth Boating & Fishing Message Forum contains a wealth of information from Boaters and Sportfishermen around the world.
Welcome to the updated THT!
If you are having trouble signing in, please email feedback@thehulltruth.com with your username and we will help you. We thank you for your patience as we help you access the new site!
No prizes, just bragging rights. (Unless THT wants to throw in a photo frame or some other prize?)
Anyone can post a photo, but only one in any given month. They can change that photo right up until the last day of September. The last photo they post will be the one entered.
The photo must have been taken by the poster and must have been taken in September (we will allow last two days of previous moth as well due to lag time in getting pics uploaded and ready for posting, so August 30/31 will count)!
Can be any subject. Boating, family, animals etc. While we can't guarantee that they took it the EXIF info can prove the month. We will use the honor system for who took it!
Normal THT photos guidelines apply.
The photo must appear on the thread. That is, no links to where it is, but it must be visible on here. So you need to get it hosted somewhere and tag it. A 640 X 480 size normally works well since it can be seen on most screen sizes. But bigger is OK if you want to get detail across.
Please post the locataion and date the photo was taken, and any other relevant info that would allow members to vote for it!
Then during the first week of the following month, THT members vote on their favorite. The pic with the most votes wins! Though comments on photos will be posted as the month progresses so entrants will get an idea of whether or not they need to try another photo!
A hint - photos that are relevant to the season or current events normally do very well in these types of competitions!
Can you share what equipment and settings were used?
Thanks! I just picked up a used Tokina 400mm lense and a 2X teleconverter just for shots like this and some close up wildlife. Strange thing is I just stepped out on my porch and took this as a test shot, not thinking it would turn out at all, considering it was hand held. It was shot at 1/200th of a second at ISO800. I can't wait to see how they turn out with a tripod and a full moon!
