We always take our sportscoats out, because we are sport fishing. Yeah I know it is pretty stupid. Anyhow got the bulk of the glue out. Know I will be using a wire brush to remove the rest and rough up the fiberglass. I am thinking of making some ribs for the ceiling fiberglassing them in and then covering with a thin plywood for the headliner. I will paint the side white but am torn between leaving the ceiling a natural wood, or painting. I'll figure out as I go though. Here are some pics with the glue removed as compared to come of the ealier one. A lot of aggravating work.
Black stuff is left over glue residue.
What the removed glue looked like. Filled a whole trash bag. Nasty stuff.
What it will look like after the wire brush.
Our trip to a restaurant Can anyone guess where?
Don't know if you can see the crab but I thought it was a neat picture.
Went out on the lake and took some pics of neighbors houses.
And Jenny Graduated with her MBA other than that things have been slow.
How long did you have to wait for a table at Dockside? By the way, I'm sorry she had to go to Carolina. Maybe next year she can go to a real Division 1 school in the upstate.

Wait wasn't that long. The steak was worth it but the shrimp tasted like they were imported . We didn't know there was a Division 1 college in the upstate. . Last time we were in the upstate we got into a big traffic jam, it seems as though a local football team had broken a spoke on their wagon and couldn't get the thing off the road. That's the last time I travel through cow country
Cool Boat. Keep the updates coming. I just purchased a 1973 model 233 a few weeks ago but have some trailer work to do before I can get serious on the boat.

That's great. I think you will really enjoy the boat. I actually bought this one for the trailer for my other 233. That one will have to wait for now.
Do you know how much your boat/engine combination weighs? I have a 73 model with twin 165 Mercruisers. I was told by salesman that it weighed around 5800 lbs. The brochure in your first post shows 3200 lbs. and the brochure I downloaded from Formula indicates 3780 lbs for the twin setup. Thanks.

I really don't know to tell the truth. That second ad is a brochure that came from formula in 67. I know it is acurate but there was som many engine choices, according to the lady I spoke with at formula. I am guessing your has the inline 6's. They didn't put them in the boats in 67, I don't even think they were made in 67 but I may be wrong about that. I would guess your boat would be around 5,000lbs but 5,900 doesn't sound far off. I always say mine weighs around 4900 but that is an estimate. I plan on weighing it next summer at the truck scale. Wish I could be of more help.
It's been a while but I am now back at work. Just graduated college in December (had to work full-time so it took a little longer). The cabin core was wet and some rot, if not all rot. I removed the lower layer of glass to let it dry. I have removed the top and bow rails, I plan on painting it before long after repairs are made.
Been working on replacing all the rotted wood in the cabin. Coming along nicely, will post some pics later. Also got two custom gas tanks made. It will have close to a 200 gallon capacity when finished. Should provide a really nice range. Anyhow thanks for the comments, nice to see some USC fans and alumni as well.
Dolphin-does your model with the two "saddle" gas tanks in the gunnels out there. I have a 1969(I believe), and it has them. I haven't seen another that doesn't have an in-floor tank. (I also probably haven't seen as many 233s as you may have)
Mine does have two saddle tanks and one in the floor. I am not sure if the tanks are original. I did have formula send me a sales paper for the 67 model and there was options for the saddle tanks. Without looking I think they were an option, but the gas tank in the floor was still there. If yours only has the saddle tanks than it is possible that the floor tank was removed before you got it. I will try to find the paper and post it.
Here's the most snow we got all year. The dogs really love to come in when it is cold as you can tell they are all waiting.
This will be the fresh water tank. It is a 40 gallon but will probably hold closer to 20 gal given the space restrictions.
A couple of gas tanks I had made for under the floor. With these I will have close to a 200gal capacity.
This is the the cabin top replacement in the first phase. Only had time to get the first front layer up. The nest two sections will be difficult but after those it should go much faster.
After attching the first board we removed some of the wiring and some more hardware. Then we stopped and probably will start back up friday.
Nice dolphin,
I am in the process of rebuilding a 75' with 2 165 inlines.
your model looks different than alot of the 233's ive seen.
it looks like your windsheild is a foot or so further back than mine. I dont have the "fabulous fisherman" and my deck mesures roughly 11 ft fron the bulkhead to the transom. my freind has a 67' sport fisherman with a 13 ft deck.
I know there was an interceptor model built that had the windsheild way back (further than yours) and a serious stringer system. how long is your deck?
do you go to www.formulaboatsforum.com at all? not much activity there.
