Random Quote: The only way that boat could do 40mph ... would be behind a tow vehicle!
If you'd be interested I can post an entire photo gallery of the pre-preg process tomorrow. I'm working from home and don't have access to them tonight. And of course you're always welcome to tour our shop in Sarasota.
The boat ran really well, although the underwater exhaust system induced too much stern lift which pushed the bow down increasing wetted service thus decreasing overall speed. We modified the exhaust system today and will be re-testing tomorrow where hopefully we'll gain an additional 5-7 mph...but we'll see.
As far as the rigged out numbers we have less than 500 pounds of additional weight to add and expect less than a 2 knot decrease in speed with the tower. We're shooting for 60 mph after all is said and done....fully rigged. We're equally proud of the fuel economy and range though.
60 mph & 15.5 gallons per hour @ 32 mph - that's crazy for a boat like that (12' beam & all) - never mind staying north of 1mpg right up to the top. Which engine package?. Wow. Has anyone commission a walk-around version yet?
looks like you took your Predator to the next level, Very nice. I see R&R/Conch is building a 44
Interesting....it didn't seem like there 33 made much of a splach in the market....I wondered if that company might not fade away.....glad they are still going.
I don't mean to derail, but are those R&R/Conch boats any good, specifically the 33?
Scott, you have a beautiful boat there. I wish you all the best, and with the current price of fuel, those numbers sure are appealing. Have you given any thought to IPS and what it may do, performance wise, to the boat? I hope to see more pictures in the near future.
Thank you for the kind words, We looked at the IPS, not a good match for our boat, it would incress our draft from 28 inches to 39 inches, we would lose our fish box and the aft 425 gal. fuel tank. The IPS is only capable of 45 knots because of the prop sizes . Our boat handles great due to the weight /hp.
The boat is actually in gray primer (because we needed to catch the water line) and will be painted Porche Carrera Metallic Silver with white decks and has carbon fiber toe rails, transom and helm pod which are all clear coated.*
As we make progress I'll post more images.*
Scott
Sorry I couldn't differentiate between "color" and "primer"!
AWESOME pics - you outta' leave it primed, put "HOMELAND SECURITY" in BIG black letters on the hull, buy the crew some fatigues, and ride around scaring the he$$ outta' folks!
We have a photo on our website that shows a cut out from a hull side that was shot with a 45 cal. at 20 feet away, the bullet bouced off, at 15 feet the bullet stuck with no sign of impact on the opposite side.
The numbers are great, but its not exactly fair to talk about performance of a boat thats unfinished. Good luck, I'm glad to see the boats are going to be built right after watching the guys up north destroy the reputation you had built for the Predators.
