Some of you guys have asked to see photos of my shop. Well here it is.
I didn't sweep or do a clean up. So what you see is what you get.
The metal piping you see is a dust collection system attached to each major machine.
There are a couple of pictures of the Christmas present I'm working on for my Granddaughter.
I made the model war machines just for fun.
Hope you all enjoy my shop (Man cave) as much as I do.
If your are ever in the neighborhood stop in.
Don

You lucky bastard. I have a tablesaw, 6" jointer, 13" planer, 14" bandsaw, 12" miter saw, drill press, rolling dust collector, shop vac and various hand tools crammed into a 1 car garage. Yeah, I'm jealous. Beautiful shop. One day.

Looks like the shop I've been dreaming about some day. Nice house , shop ,pool ,boat, fishing and building stuff, what more can you ask for. Good for you Don, I'm jealous.
Right now I have a 500 sq ft shop I rent for $600 a month .I have everything I need but it's tight .Every year the walls seam to be moving in on me .You have to be careful what you save with a shop so small.
I just received my "American wood worker" magazine yesterday and they published one of my pieces. I'm a yacht carpenter by profession and a fisherman for fun so I combined the two and this is the result .One is cherry the other is tiger maple.
Don, Tim "The Toolman" Taylor would be drooling all over himself if he saw those pix! Great shop! Only things missing are the 52" plasma TV, a large fridge, and a big stock of first-class cigars (in hand-made humidors, of course)!
Out of sheer curiosity - - did you design and build the "Man Cave" building yourself? (Wouldn't surprise me a bit if you did.)

Don Iam jealous, That would be my dream come true,
Iam a 1978 graduate from CCVTS , camden county vocational and tech school, Cabinet making and millwork, And Iam 5th generation builder.
I have built alot of furniture in my house , but limited to my driveway ,for lack of garage.
To All
I would like to thank you all for the wonderful comments about my "Man Cave"
PostOpus:
I do have a rather large TV hanging over the entrance door, but I think I only had it on once or twice.
also have a bottled water dispenser and a sink/urinal combination. I did in fact design my home and shop. I didn't build it myself, but I acted as the job superintendent for my contractor as per our agreement. He offered me a job after it was all done, Can you believe it.
I have always lived in homes others have built and had to do remodeling to make them work for us. This time I was there from the start.
Bul-Bah:
My gosh thats a beautiful piece of furniture/art. You should be very proud to have had American Woodwork do a article on you.
I also had a very small shop, and it makes you very creative as far as storage goes. Thanks for sharing those pictures just beautiful.
(I will share with you that in my small shop I built all the wall shelving at a height that other things could fit under them. Every door was a frame with a peg board insert. That way I could hang everything on the doors. Also had all tools on rollers, including work bench.)
Thank you all for the wonderful comments.
My life has been very hard these last 4 years , but my shop, Home & Boat have been a great comfort

Don---Wonderful shop. It's so nice to see someone using their retirement for what it's meant for. Good for you and cudos on your beautiful property/toys. Use them in good health.
Bulbah, VERY cool work. How much? I'm curious, and want to know if I should start saving now 'cause I'd love to have one of those "fish chests", or whatever.
Don, that shop is amazing. Wood working is a craft I have always wanted to be good at but just cant get the level of detail down... I made a small 8"x10" box last week to house a radio and it looks like crap... you have a gift be proud of it.
Also is that a trebuchet (sp?) in one of the pictures?
BUL - nice work on the cabinet as well, and congrats on the article.
DDHAND,
Yes, Its a trebuchet, and a ballista model both are built to scale and work very well. The trebucket throws a golf ball about 50 ft, and the Ballista shoots a 1/2 dowel about the same length. I have built several trebucets, and one mongola. I use a golf ball as a projectile in all of them. Just something fun to do.
I sorry you don't live close by me, I would be glad to give you a few pointers as far as wood working goes. The best teacher is experience.
Most public school systems have evening classes that will give you access to nice tools and oversight, and or help from a instructor.
Do a search in your area for a woodworking club, or guild. I helped start the Woodworkers guild in St .Petersburg, Fl. and I know there are hundreds of clubs/guilds all over the country. There whole purpose is to help teach the art of woodworking for the layman. When I got close to thinking about retirement I looked around at the retirees who I knew. The happiest were those with hobbies. So My best friend ( wife)and I searched for rewarding and fulfilling hobbies we could learn. She chose sewing and I picked woodworking. The last ten years or so before I sold my business I started to pick up woodworking equipment as it became available. The good new was that best friends computer controlled embroidery machines cost more than most of my pieces of equipment so I didn't get a ear job about spending money.
Thanks again, good luck, and
God Bless
Don
