My son and I are building a 71 El Camino.
Total frame off.
Going small block and a muncie 4 speed.

Let's try this again.
Don't worry, there's water in it.

Try clicking on the link and then the video block halfway down.

Great thread. Brings memories back. I had a 79 cutlass I redid. Swapped out the 260 v8 for a built 350 rocket and went through the entire car. Had some fun and she had her book of tickets as well.

Well, very good actually. I'll be stopping by tomorrow to see for myself. We had some issues with the rear end so I ended up getting a deal and a half for:

8.5 10 BOLT POSI. GEAR IS 3.23, LEAF SPRINGS, POLY BUSHINGS ,SWAY BAR AND TRACTION BARS

Put new heavy shocks in today. I think we are just waiting for the exhaust to come in and should be good to go. I'm running out of cash so i'll bring the car home and do the interior myself over some time and start putzing around with the body. Should have some pictures soon.

NICE! I wish I had room for a project car. I would love to have another late 80s Trans Am GTA.

I couldn't pass up the above. I can always change them out at a later date. Don't forget, this will be a street car for the most part.

Its been a long road through this process and a lot of learning! One "BIG" issue I will never do again and that id pre-pay a body shop!!!!

Things are in the final stages at this point and i'm happy again. Anyway, here are the pictures again from begining to today. Hopefully I will have it home in a couple more weeks...

Cleaning out the garage for when she comes home. Once home I will put the interior back together with a few custom mods and put the tires back on. Have fun with it for a while then black out the windows, new X-Pipe dual pipes, new more aggressive cam, new gears and i'm sure there is another 20k in fun stuff you can do...

By the way, I discovered it actually has 3:42 gears now which is ok for the street...

Its always great to met someone that enjoys tearing things down and building them like we want them but the picture I enjoyed the most is that look on that little boys eyes with you. Buddy. That picture is priceless. That was my Lt1 with 3,73's we did a number on the paint and would hit the strand at Myrtle Beach every weekend listening to Wolfman Jack and shagging our lives away all weekend long. Just a built 350 and it would not touch the 396 your putting in your car but your project brought back memories and I know the work and enjoyment your putting into it. Can't wait to see it when your finished. Still play with a hot little car and who says we have to grow up completely...

liveaboard74 - He doesn't understand that this will be his someday. Or maybe his little sisters. He enjoys life like any other kid his age. Always smiling and in a good mood. I guess we shall see how long that lasts but for now, it keeps us all in pretty good spirits.
